What's the difference between early onset dementia and early onset Alzheimer's?

What's the difference between early onset dementia and early onset Alzheimer's?

Dementia is a broad description of a group of symptoms (memory loss, disorientation, etc) that can occur in many diseases.  Alzheimer's is a specific disease, with dementia among the primary symptoms.  Other diseases that can cause symptoms of dementia include strokes or brain tumors.  Sometimes people have a series of mini-strokes that aren't initially recognized as strokes, but cause progressive dementia.

Every Pat Summitt-coached player who completed her eligibility at Tennessee graduated.

Every player. In 38 years.

She is the reason I started watch women's hoops 20 plus years ago.

I was fortunate enough to watch her coach in person when I was a law student at Vanderbilt eons ago.

It was quite an event as UT and Vandy had been going back and forth between #1 and #2 most of the season, with Vandy slightly favored due to home court advantage.  The game sold out but I had great student seats, and it was an amazing back and forth game.  At the end, UT stayed composed and Vandy faded down the stretch.  Disappointing as a Vandy fan, but an honor to have watched Coach Summit in person.

She did more to raise the profile of women's sports than any person on the planet - in Tennessee, where it was rare to see a participant in an athletic event unless she was wearing a cheerleading outfit or a band uniform.

Yep.  Glow tried to minimize this amazing acheivement somewhat by saying, "Well, for most of her coaching career, you had to graduate because there was no going pro for women."

To which I responded, "How many other coaches in non-revenue sports - men's or women's - had an elite-level team every year and graduated every player?"

Her team made the freakin' NCAA every single year since the tournaments inception. She has more wins than any other college coach - ever. And there was never a hint of squirminess with this broad.  There's is an argument to be made that she is the GOAT for any college coach, regardless of sport or gender.

She is in the conversation for GOAT.    Just like Geno.   Anyone who tries to diminish her accomplishments because she coached women embarrasses themselves.

Unless you are a member of The Rat Pack.

"Broad" is a designation that has to be earned, and Pat certainly earned it.  One major requirement is that you don't take crap from anyone, especially fellas.

I'm no great fan of the University of Tennessee (went to the same high school Chick did and found Vol fans almost as obnoxious as Fighting Irish fans) but Pat Summitt was someone special.

My daughter was able to play soccer growing up because of the influence of Ms. Summitt. When I was young, Chick was right -- there was nothing for young girls unless it involved beauty pageants or cheerleading.  Ms. Summitt changed all that with the excellence and focus she brought to women's sports.

Her graduation rate was really special. Meant her women were there for a reason and very few coaches can claim what she did. Al had a record about the same as she did -- I think every player except one who played for Al graduated. She was one up on Al!
