Title: What Goes In The Superbar and What Goes Here?
Post by: Tugg Speedman on March 19, 2016, 11:24:21 AM
A few hours ago I started a thread with this name

What a mess the Illini Have Become

http://www.muscoop.com/index.php?topic=51203.0

Within minutes that brought out the self-appointed scoop police decide what this was a Superbar thread.  And the Mods obliged by moving it to the Superbar.  I have no problem with putting this in Superbar.

That said, I'm still (as always) struggling as to what belongs on AL and what belongs in the Superbar?  If a discussion of the Illini basketball program is not appropriate for the AL, what are these threads appropriate, which are currently on the front page?

* 2016 Coaching carousel thread
* Pitt v. Wisky is like the end of fandom
* OT - Greg Gard, Legend
* Shaka Shamed!
* Jesuit colleges/universities in NCAA
* The 64 Most Annoying People In Sports Media Bracketology

Explain it to me and I will follow.

-------------------------

Let me offer this criticism ...

From my vantage point, Bucky is about as significant to MU as Michigan State, Minnesota, the Illini or any other B1G school.  But too many scoopers have an unhealthy obsession with their constant d!ck measuring contest between Bucky and MU.   Why do we have two threads ANALyzing Bucky and Greg Guard minutia yet a discussion of the Illini immediately does to the Superbar?

I don't typically agree with Heisenberg.

That being said, I agree. The amount of Wisconsin Badger Basketball threads that are hanging in the Al is obscene and crazy.
If you walked into the BC to watch a game on Al McGuire court and your friends talked that much about the Badgers... Would it be acceptable?
No.
So if it's not acceptable talk at Al McGuire Court, why would it be acceptable in the Al portion of the scoop?

This post should be in the MUScoop Suggestions section.

Pretty much anything you write.

(Too easy, Mr. White.)

This should really be a PM, not a new thread.  But I agree with Sir Larry.

You know we don't have hard and fast rules, but in general for it to be in the Al it should have some bearing on Marquette hoops.

* 2016 Coaching carousel thread
  -- We have one of these every year.  ANd often it includes past or present Marquette coaches
* Pitt v. Wisky is like the end of fandom
  -- Like it or not, because of Proximity UW has has interest to many of our fans.  Especially allowed if it's a recent event (like a March madness game).
* OT - Greg Gard, Legend
  -- Like it or not, because of Proximity UW has has interest to many of our fans.  Especially allowed if it's a recent event (like a March madness game).
* Shaka Shamed!
  -- Interviewed at Marquette less than two years ago.
* Jesuit colleges/universities in NCAA
  -- Do I really need to explain the relation?
* The 64 Most Annoying People In Sports Media Bracketology
  -- I seriously considered moving this, but didn't

* What a mess the Illini Have Become
  -- The article you cut & pasted (I won't even go there again), had no references to Marquette or Wisconsin.  Not even a mention of a current Illinois (Chicago) recruit we're after.  Therefore superbar.  Most other people get it (like all the people that reply to your posts with "superbar"), Don't know why it's so hard for you.

Oh, and look...you apparently wanted to have this discussion last year too.

Yes i did start one last year because it remains just as random and made up as it did a year ago.

Embrace the randomness!

But yeah, the folks who harp on "this should be in Superbar" should save their digital bits for more important umbrage.
