What are TC's career earnings? He's done well for himself financially by any measure. Gotta give him that.

I'd like to hear what Bobby Knight thinks about Tom Crean's coaching ability.  Hoosier basketball used to have a tradition.  Growing up, I always watched Indiana basketball.  Now, it's like McDonalds has taken over the kitchen at Maders.  It's still a restaurant, just nothing special.

The site has been around for about a year and is factual inaccurate. Heard Goodman reciting it on air tonight. They are flat out wrong. Their "facts" are nonsense.

The truth is where it's always been... LNH (http://latenighthoops.com/crean-buyout/#.VlVDc3arTIU)

(need to understand the details and nuances of the contract... most reporters/fans/interest parties are unable to)

Not that I support Crean but why when one person does something/says something/creates something does that "Tell you all you need to know" about an entire fan base?

Because they are channeling their own feelings through this guy, thus = THIS IS THE ENTIRE BASE.

TC's a prick...if you're  prick, you better be really good...he's not that good.  he'll be out of IU soon enough.  can't say i really care...don't like TC, didn't like bobby...not a big IU fan, period.  will be interesting to see where he goes after IU.

When he took the MU job, he said the 1977 MU championship got him into basketball.

When he took the IU job, he said the 1976 IU championship got him into basketball.

Given this trend, IU can trade him to UCLA for Alford then he can say it was the 1975 UCLA championship got him into basketball.

At that point NC State (1974 champions) is on the clock!

I keep hearing that....I've heard it for the last 5 years.  Some day, someone is going to be correct....eventually.  Almost every coach eventually leaves one way or the other.

I still say he leaves on his own, but we'll see how it goes.  In the meantime, he's still there despite vast predictions to the contrary here over the years.

Can Crean be a bag?  No doubt.

But without him we LIKELY aren't where we are today.  I don't think it is a stretch to give him credit for Dwyane Wade, the Final Four, the AL, the Big East, the Jordan Brand contract, and Buzz Williams.

I'd find it difficult to constantly rip a guy who did that much for the team I cheer for because he left for a better job.

Dwyane Wade's grades are what we have to thank for Dwyane Wade, which is what we have to thank for the Final Four, the Al, the Big East, and the Jordan Brand contract.  So, evidently, Dwyane's high school teachers are more to thank for where Marquette University and their basketball program are than Tom Crean is.

If so, MU is doing one hell of a job keeping it secret.  The only soccer-related issue I can see referenced 1.5 years ago was the turf replacement. Website still shows the crappy old bleachers.

I missed that...

It was done in phases as key six figure donors didn't follow through as pledged, but it was a multi million dollar investment none-the-less.

First was the Klein Family Pavillion:

And then all new permanent stands--grandstand facilities including a press box, bathrooms, concessions; a completely new pitch, scoreboard and bench areas.

Perhaps you guys can bring CTC and his wallet to finish it off.

Nope.  The Crean's were to donate to the outdoor stadium, which by now has had every blade of grass, every steel beam, every nut and bolt, every electronic wire, and every toilet seat replaced/added.

So Crean initially pledges a donation to what can only be described as a far different, $5 million stadium project.
http://www.gomarquette.com/sports/m-soccer/spec-rel/062807aaa.html (http://www.gomarquette.com/sports/m-soccer/spec-rel/062807aaa.html)
"The new stadium, to be constructed on the program's current home Valley Fields, will feature a top-quality natural-grass pitch, partially covered spectator seating, team locker and meeting rooms, concessions and restrooms. The cost of the new stadium, which will be funded through private gifts, will total approximately $5 million."

I think its fair to say THAT project was never built.

Instead, years later, MU builds a far-downsized $1.2 million rebuild of the bleachers, for which it already had $1 million commitment from the Kleins. Its by no means clear that MU even needed Crean's money for this project.
http://www.marquette.edu/magazine/recent.php?subaction=showfull&id=1306850400 (http://www.marquette.edu/magazine/recent.php?subaction=showfull&id=1306850400)
"Marquette recently dedicated the new Klein Family/KBS Soccer Pavilion, a $1.2 million facility that Men's Head Coach Louis Bennett describes as "a fantastic boost" for the men's and women's programs."

For all the criticism of Crean, even including his donation we were still $3.7 million short of getting the project funded.

So if the bleacher renovation was 1.2 Mil, then the cost of the locker rooms, injury attention area and public restrooms was $0.00?  What about the field surface rebuild?
