Wristband's were dumb and completely unnecessary.
Having the scrimmage at the start of the men's things is way better, way bigger crowd watching.
-
wristbands seemed like a good idea but when it came down to it where unnecessary. henry on the few plays he made in the scrimmage seemed to glide effortlessly, wally should be like fulce or dare i say darvin ham in terms of energy off the bench... loved his putback early on
-
Anyone else find the thing kinda dull? The block party was nice, but once the event started the building had next to no juice.
-
Only good thing about wristbands is you knew you were getting in way before the event started. Also the lower bowl and upper bowl seating was determined by wrist bands.
Been to several of these and energy was low. Wojo dd a good Intro- he seemed more calm and confident.
Wally looked in sync. Traci looked like he played some decent D Rowsey will be good. Hit several 3s
-
If these events are that dull should we be inviting recruits to attend?

I was going to say the same thing--each year it is dull. If a recruit comes to Marquette Madness and then attends Kentucky Madness, well..........

Not so sure. Ashley Judd is getting a little long in the tooth. Do we have anybody to compete with her as a fan?

I heard Kentucky Madness was on SEC Network this year.
In Scoops opinion, would it be a positive or negative if Marqutte Madness ever got televised?
-
I am surprised nobody bought up the fact that Luke did not play. He was in street clothes and it definitely was not a leg injury. Rousey nailed two threes to open the first scrimage. Henry won the dunk contest. He did a between the legs dunk, which I have seen plenty of times before. What I had not seen before was the behind the back pass to himself dunk. He must have long arms for his size. His skill level is unbelievable.

Well, that's not as good for the typical neurotic Scoop narrative of intrigue, foul play, misbehavior, and the faint tinge of scandal

He was at Jimmy Johns late at night and got in a fight after someone called him Luke Hunter.

I heard that mid-brawl he set a Jimmy Johns employee's hair on fire, all while wearing a boot.
-
Picture of him last night in a walking boot for his concussion.

We can do without the women's team scrimmage.
Need to turn this event into a party, prep rally!

Yeah, but can Wojo sink a half-court shot like Kieger did?
-
I wonder what the turnout would be if they actually pushed it back to midnight. The older crowd and kids wouldn't be there but the college students would be loud and rowdy.
-
Yeah, but can Wojo sink a half-court shot like Kieger did?
My guess is he would probably make about 1 out of every 5.

Jump shots as well.

Okay, who here besides me was at Al's original Midnight Madness against the USSR? I decided that night where I was going to college.
-
I was there.

Let's hope not........at MU the players ask the fans to cheer at other team's madness they ask them to quiet down so they can be heard.
A recruit would not be impressed with what we offer at madness.

That was a fun game.

Yup.
-
Need some madness in Madness. Where's the hoopla boys?
-
Same complaints about
Madness every year. Yet coaches still invite recruits. Wonder if they know something that scoopers don't.

Or coaches and their staffs fall into habits and don't really question it. Happens in every other walk of life.
-
Nah.
My experience tells me that those outside a profession questioning those within are usually wrong.

What about those people telling me the govt. fluoridates water for mind control? I think they're on to something.
-
Here's the thing:
We might find Madness to be a little dull because we're the ones following all the recruiting news, we're the ones watching all four games in Europe, we're the ones paying attention to the program year round.
If you're not putting that amount of time and energy in, and there's a lot of people out there like that if you check out Matty V's most recent Q&A, then you probably thought Madness was more exciting.

Seems to have worked at other schools. Louisville drilled a Natty

Wally's knee?

Wally's knee?
Speaking of that, just to put this into perspective because it's absurd when you think about it this way...Wally can legitimately jump over a women's volleyball net. That's insane.

I and 10,780 other people were there. Great game -- time when we began to understand just how special the team we had was.

I was there as well. That was a special team. USSR squad was very good. Kind of hard getting home at 3 in the morning though.... ;)
-
Who was tall enough to get their elbow that high?
Henry? Matt Heldt? Anyone who jumped for a layup or a rebound?

I was there as well, the 10 year run with Al was like Kentucky and Duke now, MU was involved with the top players in New York and Chicago. Plus Al got Maurice
Lucas from Pittsburgh, but mainly the two cities above. I must admit 30-40 years ago there seemed to be better players coming out of both cities. Chicago had an
unbelievable run of great players in the 70's and 80's. If the coaches were making the same money as today, Al would have never left, Aquirre, Cummings, Isiah woud
have all came to MU, to bad. I think the talent out of Wisconsin is better now, but Al did get his son and Jimmy Chones who probably was the best ever out of Wisconsin.

I don't know about NYC but Chicago is doing great with players coming out of there Rose, Parker, Shumpert, Davis and so many more.

If the event was televised there would definitely be more energy, especially from the students.

You're whining through your bifocals.
That was the best 3 a.m., homecoming I ever had (and probably most sober 3 a.m., return during the time I was at Marquette).
We had a nasty team that year. Like the 1977 team except we had Lloyd Walton at guard. Damn I wish Indiana hadn't been sooooo good!
-

What do you mean by USSR? University of ... ? What does SSR stand for?
USSR can't stand for what I think it does. Did Marquette actually play communist Soviets?
-
Yah, we took on the effin Commies

I wasn't around for that, but I do remember a couple of lame-ass games against Athletes in Action.

Uh-oh.
AIA is believed by some as the greatest team in the history of Novembers.

Indeed we did.
Killed 'em too. They were the defending Silver Medalists (I fail to recognize stolen gold)

Haha, yep, and the Nike All-Stars! Woohoo!
