Title: College Sports Madness Preview
Post by: Galway Eagle on October 08, 2015, 10:29:11 AM
Didn't see this posted anywhere. We're ranked number 46. They believe we'll make the NCAA tournament and that we'll finish 5th in the BE. I'd be fine with all of that.

Solid write up, thanks for the link.  5th in BE, NCAA, and improving as a team going into March is something i'd gladly sign up for.

However:
"Madness 2016 NBA Draft Rankings:
#20 Henry Ellenson"

Is disrespectful to HE (not a lottery pick) as well as Luke and Duane by omitting them as first rounders.  Frankly that puts the rest of the analysis in question.

Haha seriously! Clearly the lottery is going to have 3 MU players! But actually good point, if HE isn't guaranteed a lottery pick I don't know why he'd leave so that's an interesting error.

Plenty of guys leave that are "only" projected as first round picks. Some guys leave that aren't projected to get drafted at all. In my dreams, the ideal scenario would be for Henry to be projected #1 in 2016 and come back anyway to defend our national title.

I can think of a few guaranteed million reasons why Hank would leave if he was projected to be the #20 pick in the 2016 NBA Draft.

I think it's more likely that he's projected to be the #3 pick than the #20 pick, though.

On a related note, these guys also put out a preseason All-Conference list:

If it were me, I'd probably find a spot for Jalen Brunson somewhere on that list.
And Jay Wright won't win twice in a row.

They must be really down on Willards coaching if they think a team if two second team all conference players does as bad as they project they will.

This is the most important comment in the write-up:

"And by February and March, this should be one of the more dangerous teams in the conference if all goes as planned."

Absent any injuries, we're going to be a whole lot better than 46. There's depth in the starting line-up. There's depth on the bench. And, we have a LOT of payback for last year!

Those are terrible teams.  Hank will finish top 2 in BEPOY voting.  Duane and Luke will both be at least 3rd Team.

The author listed L.J. Peak as a center....that's about all you need to know about that

I hope your right but 2nd in Big East POY voting? A freshman has never won that award (not sure if one has ever gotten 2nd before). And outside of Kris Dunn tying last season, has it ever gone to a player on a team that hasn't finished in the top 2 in the conference? Who of Kris Dunn, D'Vauntes-Smith Rivera, Kellen Dunham, Roosevelt Jones, and Ryan Arcidiacono do you think Henry is better than? There are some ridiculously good players in this league.
