Title: Dance never ends for Dwyane Wade
Post by: Bricky on March 26, 2015, 11:24:15 AM
The NBA is advertising their playoffs with an ad campaign – the Dance Never Ends. One of the spots features Dwyane Wade spurting some golden wings.

Kind of a cool/original concept. Also makes me wish we could have throwback nights for our uni's. We have so many good ones.

We have before.  We got special permission in 1997 to do it with the untucked uniforms.  It was rather fun.

I had no idea who/what Marquette was in 1997. That was almost 20 years ago. Bring 'em back!

Do we have pics?

With all of Wojo's respecting-our-roots stuff this past year, it would be awesome to bring back some throwbacks.

You young pups.   Yes, we retired Al's number that year (against Notre Dame) and petitioned the NCAA to allow us to wear the uniforms in a game.  I was in charge of that and the retirement  banner \ celebration.  My girlfriend from California flew in for the game, her first MU game ever.  We were married less than a year later....going on 17 years now.

Good times.  Wish I had a picture of it, but I don't.   That game is what inspired Dani Pudi to do his ESPN 30 for 30 special called Untucked.

Pudi was like 8 in 1997.

Or 18.  Pudi's antics at Marquette games were ingrained in my brain during middle school/early HS.  I'm 90% sure he hit a 3 pointer to win free pizza.

They also wore the 1977 untucked uniforms in a late 1997 game to honor the 20th anniversary of the championship.  Al was there too.  Place went nuts when he was introduced (of course).  I don't recall who they played, someone in C-USA, but not Cincinnati, Louisville, Memphis, DePaul, etc.  They won though, and you could see the momentum they were gathering and it carried into the C-USA tournament a week later that they won.  Believe they won it in St. Louis.  Our one and only conference tourney title to date.

No wonder you love Crean so much.

The 100th anniversary of MU basketball is coming up. I'd wait until then and go all out with throwbacks.

Speaking of uniforms, how horrendous are this Wisconsin's? They're God awful and I happen to really like their team.

It's an Adidas thing.  They all seem to have those awful cummerbunds.  UW, Louisville, and NC state in the previous round.

As far as swim trunks go, they're not bad. For a basketball uniform, it's an odd look.
