Title: Collegiate NBA teams
Post by: #UnleashSean on February 01, 2015, 01:14:10 PM
Thought of something fun to do while we await the superbowl.

So time to see which college would have the best NBA team roster.

Rules:
Players ability is CURRENT. Not from 1960 not from 2030. You can't have Dwayne Wade at 25.
Players must have played in at least 1 nba game in their life to count.
Transfers are only allowed on their final college roster.
Games are played at 48 minutes.

So obviously here is my roster for Marquette

PG: Wesley Matthews/ Travis Diener
SG: Dwayne Wade
SF: Jimmy Butler
PF: Jae Crowder
C:  Steve Novak
6: Wesley Matthews/Travis Diener
7. Lazar Hayward
8. Vander Blue
9. Dwight Buyckes
10. Darius Johnson Odom

Marquette has some stellar guard play with Jimmy, Wade, and Wesley. Unfortunately they don't have the greatest point guard play. Leaving Travis Diener and Matthews to fight over the final spot. The other spot where Marquette lacks is the height category. Forcing Steve Novak to play heavy minutes at center and having Crowder go back to his college days at power forward. The last spot where Marquette shines is there incredible depth from the bench.

You'd probably be better off with McIlvane as your C.  Novak would get killed vs. traditional centers.  Hell, Crowder or Lazar are probably better options.

If we had a decent center to play that team would not be the worst.  However as it is, I would not want to play the Duke/UNC/Kansas/Kentucky/etc. teams.

I'll bite....

Here's Kentucky starters, all current.

C:      Demarcus Cousins
PF:     Anthony Davis
G:      Eric Bledsoe
G:      John Wall
G:      Rajon Rondo

Bench:

Brandon Knight (NBA starter)
Julius Randle     (NBA starter-well would have)
Nerlens Noel      (NBA starter)
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (NBA starter-at times)
Terrence Jones   (NBA starter)
Patrick Patterson
Jodie Meeks
Tayshaun Prince

I don't think they have a point guard problem, or any problem.  Their second team would probably beat MU's #1 and don't even compare benches.........

Another stellar editing job by the folks at the Harvard of the Midwest.  Toward the bottom of the list:

2007   Alandon Tucker   F   2003-07   Phoenix Suns   1st   29th

Awful.  And I don't see Kaminsky having a career significantly better than Leuer.

He was having a rough time of it against Gardner and Otule last year. He isn't cut out for the nba.
