I find JJJ's comment very interesting

Travis Diener Evaluates the Players

Travis Diener Evaluates the Players
Travis Diener was one of the best PGs ever to play at Marquette. The ‘great PG’ evaluates his options on the court and finds the teammate with the hot hand. Recently, I asked Travis to evaluate the current players.

Here is a brief of summary of Diener's player observations. The full 10 min audio interview with Travis is found below.

PG Matt Carlino…has toughness and can score the ball. His ability to shoot the ball will be huge for us.

2G/SF Sandy Cohen…Bright future…wants to work…has a real chance to be a special player

C Luke Fischer …Very skilled…score with either hand.

SF Wally Ellenson…tough kid…plays hard… the yr off will allow him to work on his game.

G John Dawson…great athlete strong…can knock down shots.

F JaJuan Johnson…impressing with his passing…he has improved over last 2 months

F Juan Anderson…energy….very good defender….keep it simple.

F Deonte Burton…going through some tough times…losing his mother…support…chance to be a special player.

G Duane Wilson…great in transition…wants to be good…works hard.

C/PF Steve Taylor…impressive…one of our best practice players…he can run the floor

I thought Jajuan made some nice passes off of dribble penetration last year that led to easy buckets or open shots in the short corner when we were zoned. Definitely thought that was a promising part of his game, hope we get to see more of it this year.

Guess Derrick is playing so well that Travis was at a loss for words.

Juan=energy guy. Same thing we heard 5 years ago bout him. Hope this year comes together for him--MU could really use a nice surprise like that.

This is what he charges people to have access to? Can't decide if he's a tool for doing that or a genius because people actually pay for this.

Thank You for posting this. I listened to the whole audio. Diener was very enthusiastic about JJJ and his abilities  and the coaches are expecting a lot out of him. What I found most interesting was that he quote Wainwright as saying JJJ was the best practice player on the team the last 5 weeks last year.
