What an underwhelming first half.  Hold them scoreless for nearly 7 minutes and now the game is almost tied.
Title: Re: DePaul game thread

Most teams would be up 25 if their opponent went 7 min w/out a bucket.  Not MU.  I can't believe we lost to Creighton.

You could insert MU into that statement and still be accurate.  Just not that good.

I like Dawson's court vision too.  It felt so foreign to see an alley-oop attempt.  How many oops to we have this year?  2 or 3 to Burton and Wilson?  Nice floater in the lane by Dawson too.

What's the deal with our D scheme?  We hedge and triple team leaving players wide open on the perimeter.  At one point Jake was responsible for an entire side of the floor by himself and Crockett hits a wide open 3.  Just stupid.

Right... this team would have 21 points if it was man to man and covered the shooters.... Most they shots are wide open, practice shots....

How does a team allow 41 points in the final 14 1/2 minutes to a team that has lost nine straight? We haven't challenged a shot since the 15:00 mark. Disgraceful.

This team is the absolute worse defensive MU team in a long time. It boils down to personnel. There isn't a pro on the roster, but there are many mid-major players.

I'd suggest its more that the game is just a 1/2 step too fast for him...he tries to make the explosive moves necessary to create space off the bounce...but he's just not explosive enough to take people off the dribble...then he gets tangled up on his own feet, etc..

Something's a bit strange with that situation.  No Jajuan at all the last couple games.  Did he even play much vs. X?

edit: only 3 combined minutes the last 4 games.  0 in the last 2.

He also mentioned that it hasn't been easy for Garrett. Funny how you failed to include that part.

You're right. He did.

But you know what isn't easy?

Watching a freshman PG score 26 points on your Junior PG who has two.

Did you notice how many of them were on Todd, STJr and others?   I'm guessing not...

Kinda like how Garrett just split the double between Derrick and Gardner...and Jake drew the charge.

I don't understand this. Couldn't Purnell tell garrett to try and score every possession and buzz tell derrick not to take shots because it doesn't give our team the best chance to win?

No complaints about that strategy.

It's more about how we need production from the PG spot, or these games are painfully close every time.

I have never seen a MU team that does a worse job defensively on the perimeter. We don't even try to guard anyone.

Horrible horrible horrible closing of reg. n OT
Unfortunately thats why going 5-1 or whatever is so tuff.  Winnning 1 game is a struggle.  But we aint dead yet!!

Was that Wilson or Taylor on the lack of D on that 3?
It was Taylor on the switch because the lock down defender, Derrick lost his man. In fact Derrick was on Garret most of the 2nd half but was torched repeatedly---nobody will comment on that however.

LOL. I've seen about 2 dozen of those comments on here.

Derrick had a rough game for sure. Happens to all players.
