Okay, once the schedule was released, us Scoopers all circled this game.  Let's just admit it and get right at it:

I went to grad school at ASU immediately after I graduated from Marquette.   It was sort of like the wizard of Oz when the film goes from black and white to color.   I literally sat near the union and just stared with mouth open, eyes in disbelief and books planted firmly over lap (okay, too much information).   Just about every southern california girl who could not get into the UC system seemed to be there with mini skirts, cowboy boots and little else.   My Jesuit education taught me discernment so I seriously questioned why the hell I did not spend my earlier college years in such an environment for debauchery.   I bartended on Mill Avenue off campus for extra money during my Masters program and that was akin to being the butler at the playboy mansion.   And no, trust me, this is not hyberbole.  Even the cactus stand erect.

My God...You must be my long lost roommate....those pictures were supposed to be  burned!

In all seriousness, it always shocks me that ASU is not a better hoops program.  They have a decent team now and then, but, with the weather, the women, the Phoenix area and the talent pool out west...how can they not be better?    Lute had it figured out for years in Tucson and they are still a power but ASU has always been a far distant 2nd in the state and much further down the chain in the Pac-10.

He was in the 35th District which back then was part of Orange County and San Diego County.  Things have changed so much here in this state now that I don't even know if back then if all of the O.C. was part of that district.  Today the 35th is way different....Inglewood, Hawthorne, Lawndale...a different world.

They have for many many years.  They haven't won the whole thing in probably 30+ years, but they still field good teams, make the the NCAAs, occasionally get into the CWS.  I think only USC has put more guys into the major leagues.

Have we confirmed they aren't getting good recruits? It would take heroic will power for an 18 year old kid to avoid the distractions that exist on that campus...I could see how they would lose focus on school/basketball/football pretty easily.

They've landed three RSCI top 50 players since 1999. And four others rated 51-100. So, seven top 100 players in 14 years.

Four NCAA Tournament appearances in 30 years.
Three NBA first round picks. Ever.

Yep, they're swimming in elite talent down there.
Judging by a few of the pictures posted here, they do have elite talent, maybe just not in athletics.

Just remember this: (http://www.foxsportswisconsin.com/common/medialib/306/709167.jpg)

In retrospect, it's becoming clearer to me how Trent was able to "score" at ASU, but not at MU.

They've landed three RSCI top 50 players since 1999. And four others rated 51-100. So, seven top 100 players in 14 years.

And they've sent more baseball players to the Bigs than MU has Bball players to the NBA. Some are in the Hall of Fame, several were Season and Series MVPs, and many were All Stars. So what's your point?

Three football conference championships in 35 years.
No first round NFL draft picks since 2003.
Four NCAA Tournament appearances in 30 years.
Three NBA first round picks. Ever.

Yep, they're swimming in elite talent down there.

I don't disagree with you over history, but they have a little something going right now on the football side...that was all.  Baseball they have been solid for many years.

Bump.

Good link to a bunch of ASU coeds from a year ago.  Too many pictures to post, unless someone has some time and can imbed them here.
