Title: McCain and Rudy pull out of Iowa straw vote!
Post by: Murffieus on June 07, 2007, 11:38:41 AM
They pulled out of the August Straw poll because Mitt Romney has accumulated a very strong lead in Iowa (has a substantial lead in NH as well).

Romney was the valdictorian of his Brigham Young graduating class----he graduated from Harvard MBA Business school in the top 5% and "cum laude" from Harvard Law school .

Has smarts, experience, and great stage presence----what more is there to ask for in a leader?

McCain did not participate in the Iowa straw poll in 2000, deeming it a waste of time then and focusing on NH, where he won.   At least he is consistent.

Principles over pandering would be a nice start.

For consistency sake, a party that skewered John Kerry over his shifting positions (and rightly so) probably shouldn't choose a fellow Massachusetts flip-flopper as their nominee.

Anyone can change their opinion without compromising their principles----times change and situations change-----Kerry's problems stemmed from the fact that he said "I voted against the war, that is before I voted for it"-----now that is both a compromising and confusing statement as he was trying to have it both ways----"the ultimate flip/flop"!

On other flip flops Kerry tried to hide the fact that he changed positions by explaining that he really didn't shange----meanwhile Romney is right out in front saying that he did change and will tell you why.

Kerry was deceitful in that respect-----Romney upfront!

Show me a politician that doesn't pander....at least he isn't a complete nutjob like McCain.  And of course the flip flopping also depends on where you flip to.  For example, Reagan flipped from being a Democrat to a Republican.   ;D
