Title: Am I watching a Marquette game?!?!?
Post by: Wade for President on May 03, 2007, 09:59:24 PM
Can't help but let my mind drift.  Crazy intense crowd, gold everywhere......cheering on the Warriors.

Hard to believe this is an NBA game.  A truly unbelievable scene.

That crowd was simply amazing, especially for the NBA. I'm a big suns fan and I thought Phoenix wanted it bad, boy was I wrong when I turned on the TV and saw Oakland absolutely rockin'. Congrats to the Warriors, they deserve the win.

Just kidding, of course, but Cuban is such a clown.

As a Oakland resident, I feel embarrassed that we are obviously offending American Indians by using the indian term warrior.  Marquette BOT are bigger clowns.

I hate political correctness. Some American Indian tribes did have warriors, I dont think that's offensive, but the imagery used is a little on the stereotype side. I really don't see any uprisings in the Oakland area where American Indians are screaming for the name to be changed and in general that is what happens in a situation like this. It happened w/ the "whities" in the northwest US.  some ethnically diverse group of ppl decided to get the "whitie" their mascot to make fun of us p.c. white ppl...there was some controversy over that. I for one see no problem with it unless it is a direct low blow to a certain race or cultural background.  Half of the stereotypes that are out there are true in one way or another anyway.  Racially diverse comedians point this out all the time. Chappelle and Mencia have I know for a fact.

The GS Warriors were originally based in Philadelphia.  They have migrated their image from american indian to some crazy warrior creature

How the hell is GS able to get a sea of Gold in their entire stadium as an NBA team yet Marquette fails miserably every game to get half of the crowd to show up in gold.  It makes no sense

Looks good doesn't it? Pretty imposing as well.

It's too bad that there's too many ticket holders that think they shouldn't wear yellow just because the can

I guess I don't understand the whole sea of a certain color thing as making a crowd more imposing.  It looks good on TV, and that is about it.

Noise and craziness certainly make a feared environment, but I don't get how a monocolor scheme will frighten our opponents.

I don't care what people wear to MU games, as long as they go and are loud.  Also, if you are paying for season tickets, I would think that you have the right to wear whatever the hell you want.

A guy in a suit who yells, cheers, and is into the game is a better MU fan than someone sitting quietly wearing a gold t-shirt.
