Title: MU vs UWM
Post by: PBRme on August 13, 2010, 08:34:15 AM
When does UWM put the MU game up for sale for single game tix at the Mecca?  Do they have a ticket office or is it ticketmaster?

will this be a day game due to bucks hosting a night game across the street?

Not necessarily true.  This is the year MU plays @ UW-M across the street at the old Arena ( The "Cell" ).  But, it would make sense for an afternoon game so as not to compete with the Bucks.

UWM's turnout has been incredibly crappy ever since we reinstated this game.  It would be a lot more fun if the UWM kids got into it as much as the Marquette kids.

I'd be shocked if they actually put this on as a single game. They'll package it with 3 or 4 other ones to try and keep the MU turnout down.

A week before, when there's 4000 tickets left, they'll throw it open to the public.

From what I have heard, UWM SEASON tix run for roughly $100-$200.  Don't know the validity of it, but if that's the case, I'd throw down to get good seats for this game.

I understand most of us here aren't worried about this game, but I don't count my chickens.  That being said, the more MU faithful in the seats the better.

Huh...?

I think I understood what you were saying:

The Bucks (and perhaps UWM) don't want to have two events going on right next to each other so neither are competing with the other for attendance, parking, spots at Turner's, etc.

As a Milwaukee Panthers season-ticket holder, by the way it not UW-M, you want to go to the game you must buy a 5 game pack for $50. Details on the other four teams will come out in September. Single game tickets won't go on sale for the MU-UWM game untill 48 hours before the game. That is what they did in 2007 when UWM hosted Wisconsin.

Look for the game to be played at night. UWM 9 out of 10 times plays night games.

By the way, it still is UWM as per the school's website:  www.uwm.edu (http://www.uwm.edu)  Don't confuse us with athletic department marketing for differentiation.  Until the school changes its name to Milwaukee University (or whatever), its still UWM.  No one around town calls the school Milwaukee unless they follow the basketball team (and thats a precious few ).  I have relatives and friend's relatives who attend UWM and they all refer to it as UWM.  Now if you can get the state to chuck you folks out of the state system and the school's name is officially changed to Milwaukee ( ala what happened when Mephis State officially became Memphis ), I'll buy into the "Milwaukee Panthers".  In the meantime, its UWM Panthers. ;)

Does UWM have a program where unused tickets are donated to charity?  If so, I could probably use another tax deduction.

I know some of you have been asking how you can get tickets for the game. Two ways are a mini-plan or group tickets. The mini-plans come out later this month, but here is some info on the group plan.

Purchase 100 loge tickets for the MU game and 100 loge tickets to another Panther home game for $1,500

Purchase 75 loge tickets for the MU game and 75 loge tickets to another Panther home game for $1,125

Purchase 50 loge tickets for the MU game and 50 loge tickets to another Panther home game for $750

**** That's $7.50 per ticket**** :D

Loge is the balcony section, usually.  Sometimes it refers to the upper part of the lower section, though that's for "modern" arenas.  Also, loge sometimes refers to loge boxes, so the luxury boxes above the lower deck of the Bradley Center.  The 'Cell doesn't have boxes though.  Perhaps 'loge' refers to the obstructed-view seats in the arena? :P

Sorry, I missed your joke, ;)

The loge are the light gray on the map. Most loge seats are in the 400's. The Cell is not the BC, there are no nose bleed seats.

Yeah, to me the Cell is the Lambeau of bball stadiums. Not comparing awesomeness, but just in that any seat in the stadium is pretty good and you always feel part of the action. The best is the players basically walk through the lobby to get to the court.

So, who wants to buy a block of 50 or 100 for $7.50 each and sell them off to us Warrior fans at $15.00?  Then you will have all of your second throw-in game tickets for free, which you could sell off for a couple bucks...and we get a block of MU fans all together in the place.

I was thinking the same thing.

It would actually be pretty cool if one of MU's student organizations could pull this off.

Buy up 400-500 ticket packages. Sell the MU game to MU kids for around $10.

Dump the rest of the tickets on stubhub, which probably wouldn't yield much, but could make them break even.

Actually, maybe MUSG could do something like this. Not sure UWM would go for it, but let's face it, they probably aren't going to turn down selling $7,500 in tickets.

Maybe go through back channels so UWM doesn't know it's MUSG buying up all of these seats.

As much as it pains me to say this, I don't think you'd be able to sell 50-100 tickets to students, let alone 400-500, because it's Thanksgiving weekend. The fans here may take this as sacrilege, but I'm just telling you how it is. Thanksgiving weekend is the one weekend when nobody, and I mean nobody stays on campus.

Ah ha.

Touche. I didn't even think about the holiday/calender.

You're probably right... which is too bad because that probably means a lot of UWM kids won't be at the game either. Granted, a lot of them are from the area, but I'd imagine it still won't be as packed as it could be.

Besides Thanksgiving weekend, it really isn't that big of a deal anymore. Last year's ticket was extremely cheap. Wasn't even close to what an extra conference game student ticket would cost. Although, the sheer fact of going to an "away" game would make it more awesome.

You could be right but looking at attendance last year:
Centenary - 14,093
UW-M  ;) -14,244
ND -18,942

This may be offset by UWM only holding 11K, but then again you don't have thousands of season tickets being sold either.

It's gonna take at least 6,000 MU fans to sell that place out. Doable, but I'm not sure it's a lock.

As fun as it will be to watch MU win at the Arena again, I wish that series would be over with.

Yeah, I think it will be a gameday sell-out but tickets will be pretty cheap on the street leading up to it.

I was a huge fan when they announced it, but it really wore off the appeal. Once every 3 to 5 years would keep a decent rivalry and give enough time in between for teams to really banter on who is better.

Worse than snowing, there was a blizzard.  Travel was extremely difficult.  that was the paid attendance.  Actual attendance was much less.  However, the previous year, UWM drew a couple hundred more than Centenary.  The numbers say that this game is no big deal, except to a handful of UWM fans.  They will likely draw well for this year because it is their first home game against Marquette, but typically, they have a hard time selling out for anybody.  They just do not have much of a fan base.

Not trying to be a d*ck, but in the past 3 seasons, what has UWM's highest attendance been? (I honestly have no idea, and attempted to look it up, but couldn't find it quickly)

Will having MU there really draw another 3K fans?

UWM has a 5 game mini plan that is coming out later this month. Unless something has change it cost $50 for 5 different games. If you are a college basketball fan other than MU fan, that might be a deal for you as well. I did that when the Panthers hosted Wisconsin in 2007 than the next year I bought season-tickets and still do today.

Considering what I paid for two single-game tickets to the Notre Dame season finale last year, paying $50 for individuals to this would be worth it to me. Could either sell the other games on Stubhub or just let them go...really wouldn't matter much to me, unless it was a Butler or something like that packaged with Marquette.

I'm sure many of you will say the good games other than MU are Butler and/or Northern Iowa. Two side notes, Detroit has McDonald's All-American, Ray Callum, Jr and Indiana transfer Eli Holman. Loyola will not be that good of a team this year but they have 5 players from the state of Wisconsin which include Ben Averkamp who was in the summer pro-am this year.

Make sure any potted plants within the US Cellular Arena are secured.

Is there not an allocation of seats for the away team?  Should be.  I'd probably like to go since it's basically a home game. . . have to look at the options.....

You are 'you guys.'  You bring up UW-Shorewood more than anyone else, therefore you've been promoted to representative of UW-S' interests on these forums henceforth.

I never have talk about Milwaukee Panthers basketball on this forum. I'm justing putting out info so Marquette fans or whoever can get tickets for the MU @ UWM game on Nov. 27.

Don't get your panties in a bunch, sweetie.  This thread that you keep pumping info about UW-Shorewood into is more chat about the school than there ever has been in the past.  It's not a bad thing and I'm not accusing you of being a UW-S fan over MU, it's just how things are.

I could agree with you that you're not MUScoop's official UW-S emissary, but then we'd both be wrong.

Just a fan of college hoops! My wife and I have full season-tickets for both MU and UWM and go on some road trips.

I'll answer it, "more chat about the school than ever has been in the past" it's simply UWM has never hosted MU.
