What's next for Jerel? Europe?
-
probably, no surprise though... he never got to really get on the floor and make the most of an opportunity.
-
Certainly did not get much of a chance. Looks like the last hope is Wes for now, and I'm not convinced he proved quite enough but we will soon find out.
-
Didn't get much of a chance with the Kings during Summer League.
Didn't get much of a chance with the Clippers during Pre-Season.
Makes you wonder: Would he have performed if given more minutes, or did they not see much in Jerel (hence not many minutes)?

Summer league and the preseason are all about plugging in young, unknown guys to see if they've got something. If Jerel didn't get much of a shot, it means they felt they didn't have something. It's too bad, but maybe he can get another shot next year after a season in Europe.

It's too bad. I think there is a place in the league for Jerel as an off-the-bench defensive specialist who is capable of some O.
Problem is he is two inches two short. If he's two inches taller, he maybe goes in the first round. It's too bad. He'll make some decent money in Europe and have a nice career there. Good luck to him. I always liked Jerel.

This was a very bad fit for Jerel, from the start. He pretty much had no shot with the LA Clippers.
They are loaded at the guard spot, and already had 15 guaranteed contracts (league limit) going into camp. Its hard to believe he couldnt have went to Training Camp with a different team, giving him a better shot to make a roster.

when do we think we'll know about Wesley?

Rosters have to be set by Oct. 26.
-
Wesley's gonna make it. I gotta believe it.
Does anyone know what were the other teams that offered McNeal an opportunity to play on their pre-season team?
Milwaukee might have been a good fit for him.
-
I think he had the Clippers offer for quite a while and was sitting on it hoping for something better. Nothing did and that was that.

The key for UFAs in the NBA is to find a team with open spots. It is going to very difficult to make a team that already has 14-15 guaranteed contracts on the books.
Either this was Jerel's last option, or his agent didnt give him very good advice.

I dont think he really had a shot to begin with. He was trying to play point which is not his strong spot. He is an average ball handler and by no means a pg. I think that he will go to Europe and get some experience and hopefully make it into the NBA in a few years.
