MU gains second 2010-'11 commitment

Monterale Clark, a 6-foot-10, 200-pound forward from Hill College in Hillsboro, Tex., has orally committed to play for Marquette University for the 2010-'11 season.
Clark, a Milwaukee product, attended both King and Pius High School, and played locally in AAU for Development Through Athletics.
Clark joins guard Aaron Bowen of Jacksonville, Fla. as the second member of the Golden Eagles' '10-'11 recruiting class. That leaves MU with one remaining scholarship for that season.
Clark projects as a face-up 4 man for the Golden Eagles, who that season would have four players standing 6-10 or taller on their roster: Liam McMorrow, Chris Otule, Brett Roseboro and Clark.
Clark is averaging 17.0 points, 10.7 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game for Hill, which is 15-8 overall and 5-2 in conference play.
Hill coach Swede Trenkle said Clark has grown a good deal both on and off the court since arriving.
"He came here pretty slightly built, and has added 16-17 pounds. Obviously he probably needs at least another 16-17 pounds," Trenkle said. "He's also grown a lot mentally on the court as far as his toughness, and as far as being a kid that wants to play every possession. Now that he's mentally tougher, he's working hard every day.
"He's still a work in progress. But he's got better skills than when he came here, and he's becoming better."
Trenkle said Clark plays both the 4 and 5 at Hill, and his a good shooter, ball-handler and shot blocker. He also put up a 2.87 GPA for the first semester.
