Title: Qdoba on Campus Set to Open
Post by: TallTitan34 on September 08, 2008, 10:57:09 AM
The sign in the window at Qdoba says it will be open in four days.  I won't lie, I prefer Chipotle, but I do enjoy Qdoba!  Especially with the choices around campus.

Here's a photo from today of them raising the sign.

There are few things in life that make me happier than a Qdoba within walking distance to my apartment.  I would have gutted the old George Webb's myself if it would have sped up the process.

Why did that Webbs fail?  When I left in '02 it was still DQ, which had it's moments both good and bad.  More bad than good.

I still think a legitimate fast food place (McDonalds, Wendys, Arbys) would be a goldmine on campus.

Methane levels should now increase dramatically around campus.

Because the service and food were on par with the fake juice restaurant on Chapelle Show.

Not to mention it wasn't too uncommon either to come in after bar time and see bums sleeping in booths.  Kinda hard to find a seat when half the booths are occupied by homeless guys.

Either bums or drunk students who had passed out while waiting in excess of an hour for their ham scrambler.

I waited for 1.5 hours on New Years Day for a Omlete. I was pissed. Somehow it came out cold. In retribution, I stole all the giant Tabasco products.

But what else is supposed to keep you warm in during sub-zero weather?  ;)

Real Chili will both keep you warm and keep methane levels high.

Whenever I went to George Webb's it was always a "shift change" and noone would serve you for 30 minutes.  It didn't matter if it was 9:02, 11:43, 1:07, 2:39, it was always a shift change.

The  sign at Qdoba now says open in 2 days so it looks like Thursday will be the big day.

I heard that QDoba will close early at night (around 10), that would be the dumbest Idea ever, cause they wont get their busines untill after 12:00 on weekends.

It is open.  They were putting up the final touches moments before opening it's doors.  I was number 6 in line.  Missed being number one by about 30 seconds damn it!  Nice to see muwarrior87 inside as well.

On Thursdays it closes at 2:30 AM and on weekends it closes at 3:30 AM.

A Jimmy John's worker walked by and asked why it has to be so close because he doesn't want his boss to catch him eating at Qdoba.

I already dislike them.  Or at least the cashier chick that was there around 2 PM'ish...cuz I paid for my meal with my check card, and I saw that someone had forgotten their change in that little automatic change thing, so I"m like "sweet" and take it, and the chick is like "uhhh, that's not yours!"

Finders, Keepers, girl.  Chipotle better and cheaper than y'all anyways.

second the Chipotle being better...glad they aren't on campus though. I'd be over 300 lbs and still growing if that was the case!

It has been open 7 hours and I have been there twice already.   This is bad news for the bank account.

Next one is free with the Q Card though!

Wrong again. Baja takes 3rd. Chipotle is fantastic though. And on the day Qdoba opens, and has a prize wheel with such goodies as a pen and a sticker, Chipotle is giving away free burritos all day. Score another one for Chipotle.

I also prefer Chipotle, but I don't mind Qdoba.  I think Chipotle's meats have a better taste plus I think you get more there.

and the 1.5 hr wait was well worth it the way it was packed full of deliciousness. Good grief was that the best food I've eaten for a while. Hooray Chipotle!!

And based on the articles I have read, Chipotle has a nice focus on humanely raised / locally provided ingredients.

I would trade both my legs and one of my arms (I need one to eat, otherwise I would give that too) if it would get us a Chipotle on campus.  Chipotle's ingredients are much fresher, and you definitely get a much larger helping.

I think the Qdoba is great, infinitely better than George Webb.  I stopped going on principle after my freshman year because I was so sick of waiting and being overcharged for everything.  I was shocked when I went to another location and I got hot food in a reasonable amount of time.

But all in all... I would love it if the Chipotle's spicy Barbacoa was withing walking distance.

If you give me the option of which to eat, I'm definitely picking Chipotle. But they would close at 10, whereas Qdoba stays open till 3:30 on weekends. I think that turns my vote for which is better to have on campus.

1. Burrito Beach... breakfast burrito advantage
2. Qdoba... BBQ burrito
3. Chipotle... if the BBQ burrito didn't exist, it would be #2
4. Baja Fresh... not a big fan

That may explain some things.  My freshman and sophomore years, some friends and I tried to get Dany's and Kampus Foods to get into a Miller Lite price war.  No wonder we couldn't get the price war started.  The campus needs another shady place to prevent Kampus Foods from having a shady place monopoly.
