Title: US vs. China in Baseball
Post by: reinko on August 19, 2008, 07:40:38 AM
I read about this game.  I guess five Americans were beaned, 2 home plate collisions, concussions, torn knee ligaments.

And one of those concussions was to Matt LaPorta.  I guess he ran over the Chinese catcher, and next time up to bat was pegged in the head.

yea I saw the tail end of the game.  And when a Chinese player hit a homerun in the 9th... to make the score 9-1(USA was winning)... he ran the bases like Kirk Gibson, ridiculous... even the announcer stated "he better hope he doesn't get another at bat".

This team doesn't represent China, rather Chinese Taipei (read: Taiwan).

That dude ran the bases like that cause he was the catcher that the USA player bowled over.

So... we bowled over a guy that was blocking the baseline without the ball.  The Chinese got pissed and their coach got booted from the game.

The next inning, the USA player that did the bowling-over came up to bat and they beaned him in the ear.  He didn't get back up and was sent to the hospital where it was diagnosed that he had a concussion.

Then the Chinese player ran the bases after a solo shot like he'd won the world series, and the Chinese cleared their bench to celebrate with him at home plate.

Someone needs to teach the Chinese how to play baseball, and common etiquette.  Luckily nobody was permanently injured.

China doesn't recognize Taiwan as a soveriegn country (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_Taipei).  Would be interested to see those two teams square off.
