I'm digging the 8:30 start, but ESPNU? Boooooo!
Yeah, it might as well be on ESPN8, the Ocho. Seriously, two rival, top 25 (potentially top 15) teams going at it, and a sold out arena. Why wouldn't you want to showcase THAT on your network??

Simple. They believe that if they put enough things like this on ESPNU or ESPN 360, fans will complain to their local cable company and get them to add those channels, making ESPN even more money.
Same kind of thing they did with ESPN2 in the early days.

Because ESPN is very smart....they want cable and FIOS etc to take on ESPNU, or to bump them down to a more accessible tier. So they put big matchups on ESPNU to get customers pissy with their distributors. They've been doing it for years.
Wait until they put a really big matchup on ESPN360 and the fans really go ape #$#^*. A good buddy of mine that used to work here is now the VP of ESPN360.com and I can virtually guarantee they are going down that path. ESPN isn't the 800lb gorilla for nothing.
Hey Chicos, do you know if ESPNU is available in HD yet?
And is ESPNU in most Direct TV channel packages?
ESPNU is available in the Milwaukee area (digital only) via Time Warner. Don't know about the rest of the state
though.
