Title: 4x100 Relay
Post by: spartan3186 on August 10, 2008, 11:07:02 PM
I dont know how many of you watched the Olympic relay swim, but that was one of the most incredible races Ive ever seen, talk about exciting. It'll be fun watching Phelps race for 8.

I was at a bar after the Cards game and everybody went nuts when the anchor leg hit the wall, it was great!

just like we whooped their asses in WW2.  I'm going out and purchasing some freedom fries after a win like that.

But in all seriousness, it was exciting, as much as I despise the Olympics, I can't stop watching it... never new birdie's in badminton can go 150 mph and more.  Late night Olympic watching for the win.

not to just rag on you, but why do people insist on calling them freedom fries? french fries are not a dish from France, but rather Belgium. the word french in french fries is a notion to the cut of the fry, not origin. sorry, just something that bothers.

great fucking win though.

More like "...trailed until the last 20 or so centimeters...incredible!"

There are many Olympic moments from over the years that are etched on my brain.  I think last night I added a new one.  That was so great.  I watched it several times and showed my son (a swimmer) as soon as he got up this morning.  His reaction was like mine -- an audible "Yes!" when the result flashed up.

That was really one of the greatest finishes of all time. Amazing stuff. Did you see Phelp's cheering Lezak on and then his scream of victory? Probably one of the greatest pictures of all time.

Suck it France.

And all of it was made sooo much better with the French talking smack saying they were going to destroy the Americans. Hah

Here's another photo of Phelps that I don't think we'll see nearly as often as the already iconic celebration photo.  This one's nice to see too.

Classy man, that Phelps guy.  He even shook all those Frenchies' hands at the podium after the glorious playing of the Star-Spangled Banner.

Well.. the guy did spend 3 minutes and 8(.32) seconds in a chlorinated pool.. how bad could those hands still be?  :D

Absolutely unbelievable... I jumped up and screamed in my living room.  That's one of the greatest Olympic moments I have seen in my relatively short life.

Unbelievable displays of sportsmanship as well.  Talk about representing your country well... Pretty cool to watch.

Hey Mayor,
I may be wrong, but weren't we and the French allies in WW2?

HELL, somebody got it.  Thank you

And the comment on freedom fries was a joke too.. I forgot the light blue I guess.

They replayed it late last night, so I watched it again.  Man, unreal race.

Hmmm, I sense a thread about to be locked.   Why the lingering animosity toward the French?   Sure, it was an exciting race and I am glad the US won, but why the Franco-taunting?
