I have been a not so proud Clippers Season Ticket holder for close to a decade. Today I am proud to welcome Steve Novak to Clipper Naçion. This per Clipper Blog:
2005 Great Alaska Shootout MVP Joins Clippers

I point this out only because I was there, and attending a Great Alaska Shootout because I had nothing particularly better to do for Thanksgiving still ranks among the more ridiculous expressions of basketball geekdom. Other notables on the court for the 2005 GAS Championship: Renaldo Balkman.
The Houston Chronicle:
The Rockets expect to trim their roster and their bloated collection of forwards on Wednesday by dealing Steve Novak to the Los Angeles Clippers, an individual with knowledge of the deal said Tuesday.
The Rockets will receive future draft considerations, likely the right to switch places with the Clippers in a second round. It is unclear which season that would be because both teams have future second round commitments.
The Rockets selected Novak, 25, in the second round of the 2006 season. A 6-10 forward, Novak averaged 2.7 points in 70 NBA games, making 44.1 percent of his shots and 42.7 percent of his 3-pointers.
The highlight of his two seasons with the Rockets was likely the buzzer-beating 3-pointer he made to defeat the Kings during the Rockets' 22-game winning streak last season.
Ready for something interesting? Novak's PER last season in 266 minutes of basketball was 17.20. Yes, a fair number of those minutes were in temps d'ordures, but Novak is a big, lethal shooter, and has a surprisingly good handle for a guy who's 6' 10". He's sort of the anti-Radmonovic: Heady, good court awareness [all the clichéd attributes of a coach's son], but not much athletically.
If you combined Brian Skinner and Steve Novak, you'd have one really good power forward.
Hey Steve, have fun shouting your Benz on the 405 and remember to call Chicos when you get there @ 1-800-DirectTV. He'll hook you up with the MUScooper deal.
Hopefully he'll earn his way into their regular rotation. Good move for Steve because he was going nowhere in Houston.

I never understood why they didn't put him in when a game came down to free throws.

For us non-Clipper fans what is the situation there? Is he in a good position to get some PT?

Not much of a different spot than he was in Houston except that the Clippers always seem to have a revolving door for players. But there may be one or two spots on the bench in LA.
They've added Baron Davis to start at PG. Cuttino Mobley started last year at SG and they also drafted Eric Gordon. Also signed Ricky Davis from Miami and he'll probably see time at SG/SF in an attempt to replace Corey Magette.
Up front they added Marcus Camby to team with Chris Kaman which gives them a couple decent big guys. Also drafted DeAndre Jordan from A&M and brought in Brian Skinner from Phoenix. But they should miss Elton Brand.
Al Thornton, from Florida State, had a good rookie season and most likely will start at the SF spot. I think Tim Thomas is also still under contract and may backup at both forwards spots.
I think they also still have quite a few free agents they haven't resigned yet; Paul Davis from Michigan St, Nick Fazekas from Nevada, Dan Dickau from Gonzaga, Shaun Livingston the skinny guy drafted out of high school in Peoria,
Argh! What's the MUScooper Deal? I just signed up for DirectTV out here in Boston, I better not be getting ripped off!
Thanks oldwarrior.

Me too, and I'm about to move, so...
Send me an email and I can get you on the employee offer if that's the way you want to go. If not, that's cool too.

Wow. If they resign those guys and add Novak, they'll have one of the best collection of superb collegiate white guys! ;)

PS, before someone attacks me on this logo. There is actually a very funny story about the Fighting Whities which was basically created by some non-whites at a college.

Clippers suck. He may get playing time but the franchise blows.
Deal done.

Clippers Acquire Steve Novak From Houston Rockets
The Los Angeles Clippers today acquired forward Steve Novak from the Houston Rockets, Vice President of Basketball Operations Elgin Baylor announced. In return, Houston will have the option to exchange second round picks with the Clippers in 2011.
The two-year NBA sharpshooter averaged 3.9 points while connecting on 34-71 three-pointers (.479) and 49-102 FG (.480) in 35 games played for the Rockets last season. Over the final five games of the 2007-08 campaign, Novak connected on 15-25 (.600) three-pointers en route to averaging 9.8 points per game during that stretch.
"Steve is a terrific perimeter shooter who will definitely help open the floor and create more opportunities for our post players," stated Baylor. "We are happy to bring him to Los Angeles."
Over his career, Novak has averaged 2.7 points and 6.5 minutes per game, while connecting on 67-152 FG (.441) and 47-110 3FG (.427). Novak also spent nine games last season with the Rio Grande Vipers, the Rockets' NBA D-League affiliate, where he tallied 18.2 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game.
"We are pleased to add Steve to our roster," said head coach Mike Dunleavy. "He is an excellent shooter who will help us space the floor and keep defenses honest."
Originally drafted in the second round (32nd overall) of the 2006 NBA Draft, Novak enjoyed a record-setting four-year collegiate career at Marquette. Novak established new school records for career three-pointers made (354) and career free throw percentage (.931) while finishing 10th on the all-time Marquette list for career points (1,567). He also became the sixth player in school history to reach career marks of 1,500 points and 500 rebounds (524).
The Clippers new-look roster now stands at 13 players as Los Angeles has revamped its roster by adding a total of nine new faces for the 2008-09 season.

The Clips withdrew their offer to Nick Fazekas, another 6'11 rangy shooter with probably more baseline moves than Novak, on August 1.
Glad to see they view Novak as a better option.
EDIT... Sorry did not see the thread on these. Mods delete
... has been traded to the LA Clippers. The two teams will be swapping second round picks in 2011. Maybe now he will get off the bench for more then 6 minutes a game

Maybe he'll become friends with LA's other new addition Manny Ramirez.
Thus begins the era of "Steve being Steve" which pretty much entails him making three pointers and being the complete opposite of Manny.
Looks like Houston traded Novak to the Clippers for the option to swap second round picks next year. He is not even worth his original draft pick?
