Whoa....I was in an elevator and we just had a pretty good jolt here...what an experience being on an elevator when that happens....holy schnikes.

Glad you are ok, 5.8 seems more than moderate to this Chicago boy.

Everyone is fine...just spoke to her. She was at the movies with our 6 year old. My wife is a native Californian so she deals with these things pretty well.
Thanks for asking.

Do you ever get use an earthquake like todays as an excuse to get out of work early? Or is it just like an average snow storm in Wisconsin?

Well, ironically I had to leave early anyway because my wife had to meet with her doctor...she's going to be having surgery soon to remove her thyroid (my wife has Graves Disease and has been receiving various treatments including radioactive iodine which aren't working).
There were definitely some people, mostly the non-Californians that hadn't gone through this before, that were ready to call it a day. Even for us that have gone through these things, it's a bit unnerving especially in a high rise.
I would have assumed it would still be unnerving, but didn't know how the native or long time transplants to caly would take it. I knew I thought about earthquakes everytime I drove over a bridge in sanfran when I lived there briefly.
Sorry to hear about your wife. Hopefully surgery improves her condition.
Yeah, Chico, glad you're okay. We'd miss you around here. And about the surgery: my wife and I will keep you and yours in our prayers.
Van Pelt on ESPN radio said he thought he was still feeling the effects of a night of heavy drinking the night before.
Good luck to your wife Chicos!
