Solid due to the rest of the OF around him making him look better.

Solid due to the rest of the OF around him making him look better except Fukudome.

Fixed that for ya.

I wasn't talking about appearance here.

Wow you don't know much about baseball.  Mike Cameron is a threat to win the Gold Glove in Center Field every single year, and Ryan Braun has yet to make an error this year with a few highlight real plays (much better than, say, Alfonso Soriano is out in Left Field...).  Braun, quite honestly, has quite a good chance to win the Gold Glove for NL LF this year, if for no other reason than he dominates offensively (hate that it's done that way since it's a DEFENSIVE award, but there is no denying that dominating offensively helps a ton).  Plus Cory Hart can reach higher than about 5'10" (if you don't understand, see the game Ryan Braun won on a double over Fukudome's head...).

.842 OPS Corey Hart > .801 OPS Fukudome

The great tragedy is how Fukudome got into the All-Star game in the first place.  Dude's a weak hitting LF with less stolen bases than Hart.

Boy, that .978 fielding percentage (exactly the same as Soriano, and .005 better than Edmonds) is just awful...  ::)

He plays RF, and he's been in a slump. He deserved those votes when they were cast.

Not really. Even when he was hitting he was maybe a top 8 OF in the NL.

That's even worse then.   He's barely top 10 in the NL for Rightfielders (there's only 16 teams in the NL).

I have no problem with Fukodome in the All-Star game, even though at this point he prolly doesn't belong there.  He started out hot and the fans have a right to see who they want in the All-Star game.  There have been tons of guys that got voted in that didn't belong there (Ripken in the later years, Jeter & Ichciro this year).  If fans don't like other fan's choices then it is up to them to change it.
