Who does the coaching staff focus on for 2010 assuming all players stay from the current squad and the 2008 signes and 2009 verbals stay? I would love a scorer like Anthony Johnson or Doron Lamb and another 6 8 or above forward who can score inside like Dan Alexander.
Its obvious to me that they should continue to focus on having well rounded classes. With the Loss of 2 Guards and a Small forward, it woudl be wise to get the back up pg, a scoring guard and another wing wing forward. Of Course a New Center is always nice
Centers:
Liam McMurrow
Chris Otule
Power Forwards:
Trevor Mbakwe
Jeronne Maymonn
Pat Hazel
Wing Forwards:
Joseph Fulce
Eric Williams
New Recruit (Tobias Harris)
Scoring Guards
Jimmy Butler
Dwight Buycks
New Recruit (Flavien Davis)
Point Guard
Junior Cadougan
New Recruit (Anthony Johnson)

Remember that they have already extended an offer to Kyle Kelm.

Don't forget about Kyle Kelm, per Mark Miller Marquette extended a scholarship offer to Randolph's Kyle Kelm -(05/21/2008)

FYI ... Anthony Johnson is much more of a two than a point guard.
And it's not certain MU will need a point guard in the 2010 class. The team still will have Buycks, who apparently can play both guard positions, as well as Butler, who reportedly could play the point in a pinch. If Cadougan is the player we hope he can be and can handle 30 minutes per game, I don't think we'll need a point until 2011.
The focus, I think, should be to add a shooter with some size (Kyle Kelm, Cody Larson) and a backcourt scorer (Johnson, Davis, Doron Lamb, Daniel Bejarano). With the third scholie, take the ubiquitous "best player available".
Don't forget about Dan Alexander out of Texas. 6'8 kid with a sweet stroke who has had a break out summer. Ranked 69 in the most recent Rivals list.
He camped at MU a few weeks ago.

Butler also can play the three, and at the ISU elite camp, Anthony Johnson played the 2/3 only.
I would try to land a shooter and a quality Big just in case Otule or McMorrow never develop.
we need a back up point guard...maybe a transfer like an Acker that can play 10 minutes a game or a 2-3 star type recruit. We are in dire need of a scoring 2, and will need a big as Mcmorrow and Otule will be two years ahead of that class. we are absolutely loaded at the 3-4. class of 2010 should be a 1, 2, and 5.

Why sign a two- or three-star poitn guard to play 10 mpg for two years and then
maybe start when MU can go after a four- or five-star kid in 2011, let him back up Cadougan for one season then become the full-time starter the next season? Agian, with Cadougan, Buycks and Butler, MU should be alright at the point for 2010-11.
On the other hand, MU
must land a shooter in 2010, preferably a larger Novak-type (though not likely as pure) who can help draw big defenders out of the lane, clearing it for all the slashing types Buzz is recruiting.

Sounds like you are describing Kyle Kelm. Would love to have him, he'd create problems and spread the floor all four years. Although I'm not sure you can ever count on a big guy to contribute his first year, i'm really pulling for him, we need him since our goofy looking white kid from wisconsin transfered.
I'm going with big shooter - would love to see either Alexander or Kelm as well. Also anticipating big push for solid inside guy - more a 4 than a 5 - as well - someone like Tobias Harris.
Don't need a PG next year - we can grab one year after next - but would be surprised if we don't go after a big/athletic SG.

Seriously, that is one thing that Buzz really needs to address. Bo ran circles around Crean in the GLWKFW department.

The use of the term GLWKFW is beyond insensitive, hateful in fact.

Really? Seriously? Are you that sensitive?
And remember, I am speaking from experience having enrolled as a GLWKFW at Marquette many years ago. The only difference is that the only basketball I played was in the Helfaer Rec Center.
in response to your qurstion PAukuni of why sign a PG when we have Buycks and Butler? I guess is either prove to be true PG backups in other words are not Jerel's, or wesleys' or Joe chapamans attempting to be PG but are truly indeed PG types with the ball handling and mentality of a PG then i have no problem without a nother PG. If they are not those types then we really need one. we all saw how nice it was to have a guy like acker there to relive DJ last year as oppose to really no one to truly back him up the year before. While acker is no superstar he is an adeqaute backup. It will bedifficult to find a big time Pg recruit to backup Junior therefore a transfer or a lower rated guy would be ideal ala Acker. Now if buycks or butler can be as effective as an acker in a backup PG role then we are covered...if not dont forget what happened when Diener went down.

I was just thinking the exact same thing. Was I smoking peyote or did marcus jacson start a game at point?

POINT CENTER!
He did not start at point, but he bought the ball up court. it was a surprise move by Crean, which actually worked. Without Diener none of the other guards could not keep from turning the ball over. We sure could have used Culliban or Acker back then.

As anyone who pays attention to the college world today, extending an offer is never binding.
