Double dipping in NYC

Written by: noreply@blogger.com (NY Warrior)

Buzz Williams and his staff are involved with literally dozens of prospects for the 2009 class where he has two more scholarships to offer.  The Big East Basketball Report updates us on two of those prospects, guard Omari Lawrence (think Tyshawn Taylor with a more refined offensive game) and small forward Kevin Parrom (http://w3.nbebasketball.com/index.php/lawrence-parrom-lead-ny-panthers/) -- two of NYC's top prospects.

The pair, who play for the New York Panthers this summer, are expected to visit Marquette together on June 26 (http://njmg.typepad.com/zagsblog/2008/06/kevin-book-kenn.html).

More importantly, Len Elmore would jump on the Warrior bandwagon ;D

I've heard from a very reliable source that NYC has DELICIOUS pizza!

Yum yum!

And with Sal's on campus now, they could get a bite to eat to remind them of home whenever they want!

no chance with these two.. they're from NYC.. obviously going to stay panthers through college too since that is what every player from NYC does apparently.

I can only hope that we can attract talent out of the city and create a larger footprint for not only athletics, but for academics as well (i.e. see more alums in the NYC area as opposed to Chicago). That's the ticket!

BTW- Pizza in Manhattan generally sucks and Brooklyn is the spot to get an amazing slice when you're in town.

I agree.

There is nothing holier in college basketball than a pipeline to NYC talent.

Though Houston is becoming the "new" NYC.

Let me state here that I give Sal's Pizza two thumbs up.

Great pizza and two of the nicest business owners on campus.

All you need is one stud who comes to play at Marquette whose buddies/teammates/AAU teammates etc hopefully hear good things about the program and Milwaukee and see him play on tv and when MU comes to town and it might lead to a few more. Even Hank Raymonds was able to get Mandy Johnson and Dwayne Johnson from New Jersey and New York although he was probably benefitting from Al's championship at the time.

Well, Burke, Cubby and Hazel are here already.  Now lets rachet up the talent a couple notches.

Maybe we can start getting stupid ESPN specials on how our kids think that Madison Square Garden is OUR HOUSE!

The shoe shine in my building told me that "Pitt has a lot of players from New York City on the team."

I tipped him an extra $5 for the low-down.  Oh yes, the information is out on the street.
