Title: Can anyone tell me...
Post by: RubyWiscy on June 03, 2008, 09:46:47 PM
about the Chicago Invitational at the Sears Center in Hoffman Estates, Ill.  MU is posted to play Northern Iowa on Nov. 28th.  However, I guess they need to win 2 home games to make the Final Four for the game to happen.  Does UNI have to do the same?  If so, how is it assumed that these teams will meet on Nov. 28th? What are the other teams in the tournament?

The reason I am so curious is my sister and her family live like 1 mile from UNI and are big fans.  It would be a fun road trip game.

Thanks in advance for the help.

A 1 mile road trip?

Me thinks Ruby is thinking about visiting her sister and family IF Marquette plays at UNI.

I kinda doubt THAT will happen.

I'd put money on Ruby's SISTER going on a roadtrip to MU...if that is how the tournament is set-up...

...which I highly doubt it is.

not sure if the format this season is the same as last season but teams played two games prior to Chicago and they all advanced to Chicago for two more games.

NC-Wilmington lost two games in the first round in the Indiana bracket and advanced to Chicago for two wins.

Okay
First, sorry if my name is confusing, but I am a guy (and married with kids so not gay either.)

Second, I'm just looking for a little clarification on how the tournament is played. The statement in previous posts made it sound like the MU vs UNI game would only happen if certain things happended first.  If this is true, then how can it be posted that this game will happen? Or if, as oldwarrior suggests, the game is set and will happen irregardless of the games played elsewhere, will it be played in Illinois, Milwaukee or Cedar Falls?

I don't know so I asked.  That's what they taught me at Marquette.

Huh?  I didn't see anyone debating your education or criticizing you for asking?  :-\

Anyhow, to answer your questions see here:

My aunt frequents the sears center and is signed up for some VIP thing there.  I know tickets go on sale June 7th.  I don't remember all the prices but buying a ticket gets you into all 4 games.  These aren't exact but the times were like 12 230 530 and 730 (They had MU slated at the 730).  I know upper deck was $37 but if you bought a 2 day thing it was $65.

And yes now i realize all this information is posted somewhere else!  My bad!

Mr. Hayward, you wouldn't be an English teacher would you?  Or just the grammar police?

I've learned to not take grammar lessons from MR. Hayward...when he first got here, he couldn't even string together words into a logical sentence people could understand.

Does he know how to use an ellipsis?

Since you're playing grammar cop, could you critique your own paragraph here?  I have highlighted a few items you may wish to look at.

"Dont get me wrong I am glad the guy is gone and am more than over it, i was over it the day it happen ...glad the day it happened.  I was laso happy with the buzz hiring.  My hope was for Sean miller and my #2 was buzz.  So i am all good with it.  I just find it funny that now buckley and Crean are opening up to the hoosier faithfula about how they frequently discussed landing at a place like Indiana.
Personally i grew up an Indidan fan and they were always my second favorite team.  i now wish Iu to go 0 for every season until he gets fired.  i also will for the first time in my life root for UWisconsin at lest 1 time a year."

Is there anyone else whose skin we all could try to get under? Or whose stuff we can dig in?

LOL! That's Great! :)

But you should have read the total entry...down to the last line:

"Its reputation has not risen over the years, and it is still a long way from general acceptance. Use regardless instead. "

BTW, I'd like to know the set-up as well.

Yes, but the key phrase ...

" The most frequently repeated remark about it is that “there is no such word.” There is such a word, however."

as posted before, you sure DO have a lot of free time on your hands...
otherwise why even bother to make this sort of nonsensical effort.

And as I said before, many people MAKE THEIR TIME.  I don't know if you know what that means, but I'm happy to explain it to you.  Some jobs require 9 to 5 non-stop busy work with a boss over them 24/7.  Some jobs require few hours at all as long as you're bringing in millions of dollars.  Some jobs require riding a motorbike on the beach...and there are all kinds of other jobs in between that spectrum with various time commitments.  Some guys spend their free time hooking up with the secretary or trading stocks online.

Not all jobs are the same....nor are people's time commitments...do you not agree?

What you choose to do with your time I might find problematic, but I'm not going to pass judgment on it.

Hayward, like all of us, live in glass houses.  It's a good reminder for each of us, I just happened to be the one to do it for our Indiana friend....though I must admit I liked him so much better as AhoyaBallScout and baselinetobaseline better.
