MU is one of them.
Begs the question why MU didn't put conditions on the kids we released. The conventional wisdom was that it would hurt MU in recruiting if we did. Apparently Iowa State feels differently.
Don't know the correct answer but certainly they approached it differently then Marquette did.

Conditions are BS. If the kid wants out, let him go. The only condition that makes sense is no in-conference xfers. Other than that, let the kids move on.

Both TT and NW ended up going to schools that we are not scheduled to play - same as the ISU clause. Plus there is the big east rule that they had to abide by
Worked out just as well for us, and we don't look like as big of jerks/sore losers in the end.
I could see keeping IU off the list - but whatever, they are going to suck at least 75% of NWs career there. For a kid that has probably only lost 10 games in his life, lets see how long he lasts there.

I agree ... show some class and if a kid doesn't want to be at your school, let him find the place that he is happy at.

Are we sure that Buzz didn't put any restrictions on NW & TT? ?-(
-
a program like Iowa needs conditions. Dead end school - we are part of a tradition and a top 15 program
-
Two schools of thought, that's for sure.
Though if a school is a dead end, why would they put restrictions on it...wouldn't that make it even harder to land recruits? Just a thought. Again, don't know the right answer.
I've seen powerhouse schools put conditions on and others that don't
-
The school should be able to pick the 8 schools on the list.

Did we put any restrictions on SC? Did he have eight schools with ISU on the list?
-
Are we interested in Johnson, what position does he play?

He's a 6'7 G/F. Averaged over 12PPG both years, despite being injured as a sophomore. He's also a very good rebounder, or at least he was as a freshman...but the ankle injury probably hampered that last year. Not a particularly good outside shooter.
MU is interested, but it's tough to gauge how much. If MU takes him, that means that the 2009 class would have two scholarships left, but still have 3 needs to fill(PG, shooter and big man).

I believe the 8 schools are the schools that asked Iowa St. for permission to talk to Johnson. Iowa st. appears to be limiting his choices to those schools that took the appropriate route.
-
I don't give two craps about conditional releases but considering 3/4 of Johnson's list is Big East we better damn well put in a fight for this kid because it's clear the top coaches in the league feel he can compete at our level.
Buzz is a master recruiter. Go to work.
