even better, we won every game in that list..

only thing: we played vs Gonzaga on 11/24/01 not Indiana (and won that game too to win the Great Alaska Shootout).  We beat Indiana the day before (11/23/01).  Not sure which game of those two is being shown.

General note to all:  wondering how I checked this out so quickly?  Why the MUScoop Wiki (http://wiki.muscoop.com/doku.php) of course!  You can just double-click on any of those teams in topper's post and you'll get taken to our Wiki's page for that team which lists the results of every game we played against them.

I'll bet the game is vs. Indiana, and the date is wrong.  Probably because Alaska is like 27 hours in the future.

Time Warner Sports airing classic MU games

Written by: Todd Rosiak

Some of you may have caught the 1995 MU-UW-Green Bay game on Time Warner Sports (Channel 32) last week and wondered if it was going to become a regular thing.

Well, it is.

Called 'College Basketball Rewind', Time Warner selected eight memorable Golden Eagles games of recent vintage to air a couple times a week through early August.

Here's the remaining schedule (all broadcasts begin at 7 p.m.):

Fri., May 23: Louisville at MU, Jan. 7, 1995 (replay Sun., May 25)

Fri., June 6: MU at Cincinnati, Feb. 18, 2001 (replay Sun., June 8)

Fri., June 20: MU vs. South Carolina, championship game of Great Alaska Shootout, Nov. 26, 2005 (replay Sun. June 22)

Fri., July 4: MU vs. Duke, championship game of CBE Classic, Nov. 21, 2006 (replay Sun. July 6)

Fri. July 11: Pittsburgh at MU, March 3, 2007 (replay Sun. July 13)

Fri., July 25: Louisville at MU, Feb. 19, 1998 (replay Sun. July 27)

Fri. Aug. 8: Marquette vs. Indiana, semifinals of Great Alaska Shootout, Nov. 24, 2001 (replay Sun. Aug. 10)

wow.. Todd right on your heals topper :)  BTW - alaska is on our side of the date line in the AKST (Alaska Standard Time zone).. which is only 3 hours behind us in CST.  It is the Indiana game (if Rosiak is correct).

Wow!  What a neat feature for TWC to provide Marquette fans!  I only wish that game they show against Indiana were the Gonzaga game and that I'd be able to see it on Spokane television.  It would be such fun to see a freshman Ronny Turiaf, senior Dan Dickau, as well as Dwyane Wade and Travis Diener.  Zags fans need to figure out a way to get that game shown out west.

Speaking of Gonzaga v. Marquette, there's a rumor on guboards.com (http://www.guboards.spokesmanreview.com/showthread.php?p=222689#post222689)   that GU is working on a game with Marquette in Chicago (Jeremy Pargo's hometown) for this year.  If anyone here hears anything, it would be great if you could drop by the Zags board at www.guboards.com and give us a heads up.

Interesting rumor .. but .. that exact same rumor surfaced last year, as well.  Is this a "new" rumor .. or just something from 365 days ago?

If I remember, didn't Gonzaga want us to play them in Chicago but the return game would be at Gonzaga....in essence a neutral court game for us but a true away game for us as the return?

mu_hilltopper, it's recent.  The first link in my post above is to the thread where it's mentioned a couple of days ago.  It's just a rumor, but the reference to it was posted by BobZag, the board administrator, who usually has pretty good access to insider stuff.  I believe that GU is working on such a game, whether or not it ever comes to pass.

ChicosBailBonds, What you say is actually ringing some bells, maybe from last year.  I wouldn't be surprised if the Zags wanted Marquette to play them in the Spokane Arena, a 12,000 seat off-campus venue.  The Zags home court holds only 6,000, so I'd be surprised if the Zags were pressing for home court.  Still, I can see them wanting the game to be in Spokane, since the other logical choice, Seattle, is already the site of the annual Battle in Seattle the Zags play in each December (last year against Tennesee, this coming year v. UConn).

I'd love to see it happen, because of my admiration for Marquette, both as a basketball program and a Jesuit school, though it's looking like the Zags already are lining up an already tough non-conference schedule, including Washington State at Pullman, Tennessee in Knoxville, Memphis (in the Spokane arena), UConn (in Seattle), Indiana at the HOF in Indianapolis (unconfirmed but probable), Arizona (location unknown, and still unconfirmed), as well as being part of the Old Spice field that includes Maryland, Tennessee (again), Mich. State, Georgetown, and others.

Keep your ear to the ground and let us know if you hear anything, okay?  As noted, link to guboards is on my post above.  Thanks for indulging me and apologies for hijacking your thread.

Duke "makes" Pitt go to MSG but Pitt sees it as an opportunity to stay connected with NYC (did you know some Pitt players were from NYC).

I would take the Zags deal if the money can work.  We have a tremendous Alumni base in Chicago and have always had success with Chicago recruits.  Staying connected with Alums and future recruits makes sense.

Of course I wish TC had manned up and taken the Texas H&H last year.  Now with DJ & Co as seniors we'd have Bucky & Texas at home.  Dude found money for hyperbaric chambers (which a player told me was useless) but couldn't make one extra road game work.  It was fascinating how that was the one variable we couldn't adjust during his reign.

It's MU-UL from 1997. I believe it's the game where Jarrod Lovette lost his mind on the Cardinals.

(not literally, that came later. Too soon?)

Man, I forgot how good Pieper was when he was on. That team had some players, not terribly flashy or athletic, but good basketball players.

I would kill for a Faisal Abraham on this year's team.

Watching this is interesting... Crazy how times have changed. The place was maybe 2/3 full, the students blended in, we shared a court, our jerseys looked like they were made at the local sporting goods store, and most of all we played in C-USA.

Topper- going back to your post a couple days back about some of the fanaticism being gone after April 1... watching this should heal that. We have a TON to be excited about.

Anyone else notice how often there are loose balls in this game (Louisville)?  It seems like every other play players are on the deck and the ball is flying around.

Aaron Hutchins = one of the best clutch players in MU history. He was my favorite MU player before Wade arrived.

I loved Hutchins! He was frickin money.

Deane wasn't a great recruiter, but he did overachieve I would have to say. The one thing that blew me away was the talent and size of the Louisville/MU teams then. Crazy how much bigger/physical the kids now look.

Been a while since I saw Crawford and that crazy release for three.

Been a while since I saw Crawford and that crazy release for three.

That crazy release earned him a couple years with the Hawks.

It was also great seeing my personal favorite player hustle his butt off when he got some PT in that Louisville game...None other than Mr. John Polonowski!
