Title: TIM GROGAN--BIG EAST GOLF COACH of YEAR
Post by: wampum77 on April 30, 2008, 07:05:38 AM
Congratulations on a great year!

It behooves everyone to read Coach Grogan's comments about receiving the award and compare them to Tan Tommy's  "coach talk" comments.  Class vs Classless

I find it hard to believe that Grogan has been at MU for 17 years...he looks like he's about 25!

what a  rediculous comment.  That is the is exact same coach speak as any coach would say in any sport, and we've been hearing form crean the last 9 years, they sound like they have the same pr writer.

That aside, he's been doing great things and this is well desirved.  Would be nice to see a school in wisconsin become a golf power house.

First off, Tim Grogan rocks.  He always has.  It's funny (or weird) the disposition of coaches in the non-revenue sports vs the revenue sports.  Obviously the stress is a lot different but the personalities are also.  Grogan rocks.  Roeders rocks.  The tennis coaches were great.  Etc.

Now, as for the coach talk, Tim's comments were well done but I don't see much difference in those vs these below?  I'm just asking.

"Being selected by my peers is very meaningful to me," said Crean. "All the people that work with us, it's a 'we' award. It's really an honor. I share this with my family, my administration and (athletic director) Bill Cords, the entire athletic department ... and most importantly our players."

Those comments were made when Crean won the CUSA Coach of the Year award.  It's all coach speak, anyway you cut it.
