So what doesn't make sense to me is that one of the reasons Crean supposedly took the IU job was so that he could recruit at a national level [implying that this was not possible at MU]. However, since taking over at IU all he has done is reach out to the same 3-star recruits he already had a reasonable chance of getting while here.
The legend of Crean as a great recruiter is quite exaggerated.

DId you really expect cr ean to get 5 star tallent the first three weeks he was there while under serious restrictions? If you always felt it waas exaggerated then fine but to use this as a reason to make that claim is pretty weak.
No, I didn't expect him to land 5 star recruits in 3 weeks, but he has more than these first three weeks to figure out his 09 class. As such, I didn't think he would rush to offer lesser recruits scholies.
You keep using plural and i only know of one, but regardless of that it seems silly to start criticizing this early.
I agree Marquette_g. It seems that either Marquette was on the cusp of breaking through to top-ten recruiting or Judas is getting a little desperate.

His first year of recruits will not be "IU great" but they will be decent. They're on probation and awaiting sanctions, that's going to be a deficit. But if you look at the 7 or 8 four and five star recruits that have IU now listed as a potential school, he's certainly going to get a few in the next few years.
He's a jerk, he left us, but he left us pretty good. Thank the man and now it's Buzz's turn. We're certainly a lot better of in 2008 then when Crean took over.
If the other post is true about the new potential assistant, I am quite excited for the future.
IU hasnt been great for a while.
Good luck with that
