Title: What to do with the last schollie?

What to do with the last schollie.   My opinion can be found in the order of the choices.

I said bank it because all of the "best" options are probably average at best.

Luka Mirkovic might be an option

perhaps Luka and Otule can grow into a high/low post combo

Sorry but i do not like the poll.  Hopefully, our new coach makes a fundamental shift in this area from our last one.  My hope is that if Buzz identifies a kid that he knows will be a player maybe not next year but in year two then he signs him.  If not he should bank in and hope to get a player from a larger pool for the class of 2009.  Unfortunately our previous coach, probably because he had such turnover in the program, would sign just about anyone during this time of year with an open scolly notable contributors such as Lott, Blackledge and others were signed out of desperation, most likely becuase that coach was not looking long term.

2 words.  Kyle Rowley,

Lake Forest Academy, 7ft 260lbs.  i read somewhere that even though he is listed as a 2009 prospect, academically he can graduate HS this year and qualify for 2008.  This has something to do with going for 1y of HS in Trinidad.

He is a project but I would rather have 2 projects greater than 6'10" than only 1.

That turned out to be only partially true.  He could have graduated early if he took a bunch of summer school classes.  But he decided not to do so, and has announced that he is a 2009 prospect.

We already have 3 schollies available for 09.  3 Amigos +Burke - E Williams = 3 Schollies.   Take on a big project or a PG

With all the 2009 Top 100 prospects that are interested in MU, bank the slot.

+1

Donte Hill, Cheek, Lacy, Jamil, Roger Franklin, 6'8 Bobby Capobianco (who also has frickin' Indiana on his list)...

but I can also +1

I think you can cross off Capobionco now that Crean is at IU, they are apparently his leader now and he really likes Crean.  And there's no way Dominic Cheek is coming given how things have gone with Bob Hurley.  Maurice Creek may be an option but he really liked Crean.

I agree that it's pointless to bank it with at least three slots still open for 09.  Williams makes four new players coming in.  Bank it and have a player transfer in addition and you're looking at six newcomers.  Even if the player isn't good enough to be a starter for a few years in a future, if they can contribute, I say add them.  I also wouldn't be against getting a transfer if that's what happens.

Just like the NFL draft...it's not about NEED, it's about the BEST ATHLETE AVAILABLE.

I say save it for my son...
he's in 7th grade now, so if they stash it away for safe keeping, then we're set...
MU gets another rabid fan, maybe a team manager???
We get a good, expensive education.

good trade.

If i decide to bank it can i still hope TT comes back?

This new person will not play this year and would be unlikely to ever contribute.  Next year we will be able to use that to offer immediate pt to someone good.  Why rush out and get someone who doesn't have starting potential.

I hope Buzz had the integrity and the balls to say to TT, "When I release you from your LOI, there is no longer a position here for you at MU."  Either you buy in or you don't, that's it.  No playing the field.  I liken it to finding out something new about your fiance a few weeks before the wedding and you need to make a choice.  either you say, I can live with it or you say I can't.  You don't say, let me date around for a couple of weeks and if you are still the best option, i will stick with you.  I would say if Buzz has integrity, he told TT good luck in some other program.

I'd say bank it unless TT returns or unless Buzz has a key guy in mind.

We can officially take Capobianco off the list, he just committed to IU.

Best Big

There are already four new players coming in the next year.  And Otule is the only 4 year coming in this year.  I think best 4 year big.  Better for "continiuity".

Honestly, F*ck Crean.  Why couldn't he bring in someone like that to MU???

Bank it. And then bank on being good next year. Then, use that to get a great '09 class.

That works for me.  My 3rd grader (a Travis Diener type pg in the making) can take it over after TVDirector Jr. uses up his 4 years...   ;)
