Title: Lots of Transfers This Year?
Post by: Tugg Speedman on April 15, 2008, 09:20:15 PM
My impression is their is a lot of transfers and signees asking out of their LOIs this year.  Do you agree?

Alexander leaves Illinis basketball team

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Illinois junior forward Rodney Alexander has left the basketball team after just one season in Champaign.

Illini coach Bruce Weber says he and Alexander agreed that the player would be better off at another school. Weber says Alexander told him after the season ended last month that he wasn't sure about his future at Illinois.

Alexander played in 31 games last season after transferring from Redlands Community College in Oklahoma.

But he started just 15 times and averaged just under five points and three rebounds a game.

Weber didn't say where Alexander might go. He's from Benton Harbor, Michigan.

There are always lots of transfers but it does seem that the number continues to go up. As much as many would like to claim otherwise, this is not simply an MU phenomenon. It seems that kids these days want to play and there are a lot of options for them. You can watch a lot of teams on TV these days and a kid isn't content to ride the pine at a North Carolina when he could be a star at Winthrop or Davidson.
