There was also an ad on the billboard heading towards miller park on 94.  It was pretty cool to see.

nice ad, but  could we promote it in other venues other than Wisconsin?

Why was MU in such a hurry to run this ad?

They could have waited a week or more and the same billboard space, as well as newspaper space, would still have been there. That would have given them more time to explore better outdoor advertising locations, or maybe a better medium than the newspaper in which to advertise. If the administration had only pushed harder I'm sure they could have gotten this on the front page, or maybe even landed a commercial during American Idol.

I don't know, the whole thing seems kind of rushed and smacks of panic.

That is a nice ad and a nice gesture, but there is no doubt it was run as a result of the negative reaction to his hiring.

Nice job by Marquette on that one, but after all, they're the individuals that put the poor guy in the crosshairs.

Looks like they should have waited...at least to get the ad right and eliminate the guys that have already transferred.  Starting with #0.  I love Buzz's dazed and confused look as well, sure to inspire confidence throughout Warrior nation.  This is the best photo we have Williams?  Good grief.  If we're going to run an ad, which is a fine way to reach out, at least put your coach in a light that instills some confidence and don't include a kid that just left.

Good idea, piss poor execution.

Clearly the administration couldn't land their first choice of ad agencies, panicked then settled for the in-house PR department.

It doesn't matter if TM and SC made the ad.

Think of it as a "farewell memento" from MU to them.  ;)

More likely scenario is the PR department said they had this really dopey picture of Buzz looking dazed and confused so the admin said, great...we should hire him as the coach and we can run that picture in the ad.

:D

Did anyone ever think they bought some of the adspace prior to Crean bomb?

I think he looks thoughtful, reflective...like he's contemplating the meaning of life...and right on the verge of figuring it out.   ;)

I'll agree...thats just ridiculous Pakuni.
Honestly, are you just trying to criticize the administration for anything you possibly can?
Believe it or not, some people working in the PR department probably know more about PR than you.

I sincerely hope this is just a poor attempt at a sarcastic joke on top of Pakuni's comment.

Also, Pakuni's posts would have lost much of their humor if he used the sarcasm font. Can we do away with that yet?

I like the ad, the idea behind the ad, and I think Buzz looks cool.

It's a good thing - let's let some things just go along.  There is nothing wrong with the administration romoting their decision and our new coach.  I agree, we should find other venues outside Milwaukee to build more buzz for the Buzz.  Maybe we will.

I'm sure MU used the awesome Zizzo Group...you know the ad/PR group whose VP is on the board of MU who proclaimed in all her PR infinite wisdom, "People will learn to love the Gold. They may not like it now...but they'll eventually love it!" And that was from a PR executive.

Yeah, like the Buzz hiring. I'm glad the school is adament on filling such a valuable roll and promoting their support...but the execution on both fronts is awful.

MU is good on ideas, it's the execution.

- we need a new nickname, execution terrible
- we need a new coach, execution terrible
- let's show support and run an add, execution terrible

Anyone else think Buzz looks kinda odd shaving his head bald when you can see his hair line? It's like he has a five-o'clock shadow where his hair is supposed to be.

Maybe I'm the exception, but it's pretty unfathomable to me that we have people whining about this ad as if it has any meaning or relevance whatsoever. Apparently some have nothing better to do that nitpick.
Get over your bad selves.

I actually thought about this in New York last month. When I was talking with him, I was taken that he doesn't look fat perse but bloated as you put it is the right word. He almost looked like someone put a tire air pump in his mouth and hit the pedal twice.

Strange I know but it did pop into my head.

He looks like Jimmy Page w/o the bad long/balding curls.
