Title: Child Prodigy Greg Clausen...
Post by: WashDCWarrior on December 15, 2006, 10:14:49 AM
...was born on March 12, 1981 according to the NBDL player profile.  His first year at MU was the '97-'98 season meaning he started college at age 16.  Anybody know if this is correct, or just a typo?

If true, it makes me feel a little better about his career.   :)

I saw Clausen in practice his frosh year-----he looked like he had a very good career ahead of him----had 9 points against DePaul I recall-----but he never developed------had the misfortune of having 4 different coaches in 7 years (3 HS & 4 at MU)!

Had sculptured body at 6' 10"-----strong as a bull, very agile for that size-----fairly athletic as well-----had he gone to scholl where postup play was emphasized----he would have had a different career!

Murff, there are very few NCAA schools where post play is emphasized. In fact, it's not even emphasized in the NBA.

Muffy also posted that MU should NOT waste their time recruiting Travis. They should recruit a guard that went to UWGB.
Muffy posts thousands of times, his accuracy is quite low IMHO.

He was actually born on March 12, 1979. I made his wiki page a few days ago when I was avoiding studying for finals. I got the information off of Go Marquette.

That makes more sense.  He never struck me as looking young.

Ecompt----postup play certainly is alive and well in the NBA several on the low post Yao & Shaq and a few others----but what is very "active" is posting up from the WIDE POST----just about everyteam does that quite a bit.

In the final four last year----3 of the 4 teams used the wide postup----with the Cinderella team (George Mason) using it the most!

Clausen wouldn't have fit the wide post however----but could have been developed into a very good low postup. He was more productive there in the professional leagues than in Div 1!
