Do we have any news on any of them yet?
No news, but my guess is that Tyshawn Taylor and Nick Williams do not enroll at Marquette, leaving Chris Otule, Joseph Fulce and maybe Erik Williams.
Why would Taylor or williams not come??? Taylor likes buzz, wants to play for him and has a chance to start in the big east as a sophomore, same as Nick Williams. Would be silly for them to turn away.
Someone from the Trib asked Buzz during the press conference. He said he spoke with a couple recruits, but not all yet. He said the reaction was very positive, but didn't get into specifics.
Simple, prior to committing to MU Taylor was getting the run around from Kansas which is where he really wanted to go. Well they've contacted Hurley now, and they want Taylor. Florida who had mild interest before has also stepped it up and is going after him. If you have a chance to go to Kansas, Florida or MU.....you don't pick MU.

I do! Maybe I should talk to TT. I know Buzz has openings on his staff. I'm ready to begin negotiations.

You pick MU because you're a man. You're 18 and you made an agreement. Be a man.

TT, and the rest of the recruits, made that agreement under the understanding that Tom Crean would be their head coach. They shouldn't be held to an agreement when the terms of said agreement change significantly.

I'm not saying they should be held, and if they want to leave. I'm sure MU will allow it. But....

Have you been paying attention at all the last 7 days?
wasn't it quoted that TT would come to MU if Buzz was HC?
well.........................................................

I wouldn't go that far.
I think, and I'm paraphrasing, his words were to the effect of "I'll only consider Marquette if Buzz is HC."

He said he would consider MU if Buzz stayed on in some capacity but then backed off that statement a few days later.

Actually, I don't believe that is correct. The agreement as I understand it specifically states they are making the agreement irrespective of who is HC and even goes so far as to point out a change at HC is always a distinct possibility.
I believe they get released anyway, but does anyone know if they can be released given certain conditions...like they cannot attend IU for example?
They will be given conditions. No Big East Teams. No opponents next year. Probably no IU.

I agree but the letter of intent clearly states that they are aware coaching changes are made frequently.
MU cannot afford to not let Taylor out of his LOI if he really wants to go. Crean left and its understandable he wants to go elsewhere. If we enforce the LOI MU risks pissing off a lot of the East Coast high school coaches, the heart of the Buig East.
We have to lose one player some where. Losing a guard will not hurt as much as losing a front court player.

Good thought.

Yes and no. It would really suck to see Taylor or one of the other recruited guards leave when he has/they have the ability to at least, in part, fill the void left after DJ, Wes and Jerel leave. That being said, even if he is a project, I think it'd be a huge blow to lose Otule in comparison to any of the others.
Let Taylor go, get Wilson and another stud guard frosh for 2009, and re-tool... losing a recruit isn't the worst thing that could happen. I think the hire of Buzz Williams keeps the team we have together, which is a top 15 team next year, which is a bonus.
Mayor, pass me some of that 'top 15' kool-ade you've been drinking.

We were 1 unlucky bounce away from making the Sweet Sixteen this year (one team over "top 15") and we played the team that was the worst possible matchup for us, losing by 1 to the #8 team in the nation. I'm not saying we for sure will be a top 15 team next year, but we were very close to it this year and lost Barro (hurts but definitely not what other teams are losing above us), Fitzgerald, and Blackledge. We're pretty close.
