Keepin mind that Taylor was being recruited as DJ replacement and would take over this year when DJ went to the pros. Now that it looks like DJ may be staying, Taylor( through his HS coach) is using Crean's departure to look for a place where he can start right away.
Iman Shumpert wanted immediate playing time and TT was okay with earning it. Again... compliments of Rosiak's blog (http://blogs.jsonline.com/muhoops/archive/tags/Tyshawn+Taylor/default.aspx (http://blogs.jsonline.com/muhoops/archive/tags/Tyshawn+Taylor/default.aspx))
Once he arrives at MU, Taylor could encounter a crowded spot at point guard. Dominic James could decide to return for his senior season, while Maurice Acker, David Cubillan and even Scott Christopherson could also be in the mix.
"I'm a competitor. I compete. I'm definitely going to earn my playing time. Anything I get is going to be earned," he said. "I'm definitely confident that my playing time is going to be there. If I didn't think I could play, we wouldn't be having this conversation. I definitely do think I can play and be a contributor."
a great example of saying what they want to hear.
Taylor's not a PG at the Division I at this point. In time, perhaps, but not straight away therefore I don't see the connection with James. (And I think the James situation may have changed with Crean's departure)
