Seems like it is very quiet on the media front regarding the vacancy. When do you think this thing will come to a conclusion?
Probably Tuesday or Wednesday.........the NCAA doesn't like coaching announcements during the final four because it detracts from the spotlight of the tournament.
what's the hurry it has been less than one week.
I'm not saying there is a rush......but if we do have someone picked, they will wait to make the announcement until after the NCAA finals.
Just the lull before the storm.
Part of the hurry has to do with the "contact" and "dead" periods for NCAA recruiting I would wager. April 11-13 marks a contact period. If we do not have a coach in place by then, we give up three more crucial days in contacting potential recruits. Assuming we may lose some incoming recruits, whoever is the coach will want an opportunity to explore other options. There is a dead period between 4/14 and 4/17 and then the next contact period opens up. We absolutely must have a coach by 4/14. We are already behind the ball with respect to recruits due to the coaching change. We cannot afford to give up more contact time. By May 1, the contact period will be over and it will be a quiet period, which makes life more and more difficult if we have not re-established old contacts or established new contacts.
I agree... it's strange that there hasn't been any leaks or media speculation. Perhaps the new coach has already accepted and unlike IU, our administration and BOT know how to keep their mouths shut! I do agree that we'll hear something in the next couple of days... we need to get the new coach on the road and recruiting.
Not entirely strange, Cords was famous for running very quiet searches.
Just pray they pull a rabbit out of the hat...still hoping.
Two coaching vacancies named today at Western Kentucky and Oregon State.
LSU just named a new AD yesterday, so thats why LSU coach not named yet.
That leaves us.

I guess Oregon St., Western Kentucky and Rice didn't get the memo about "detracting from the spotlight."
But I'm more than happy to wait

According to Fox Sports, they've hired Craig Robinson, who had been the coach at Brown and is the brother in law of Barack Obama.

Although it is three weeks away, and quite possibly off the radar entirely, to be fair to Dom and 'rel, we should have a coach in place in enough time for them, especially Dom, to make a sound decision on declaring for the draft.
