Title: Non-BCS School in Chamionship Game
Post by: SoCalEagle on April 05, 2008, 07:09:17 PM
Well it looks like Memphis is going to the championship game.  I kind of like the fact that they will be there.  Good luck to them on Monday.

I'm with you on that.  Football team status should have no impact on how your basketball team is classified.  Unfortunately the term BCS is starting to apply to basketball too, even though there are no bowl games in basketball. (There is a real championship however.)  Pull for Marquette, then Big East teams, then fellow Jesuit schools, non-football schools, non-BCS schools.  If no other choice, hold your nose and pull for the least obnoxious BCS school's basketball team.

The reason that BCS status makes a difference is the $$$ winning football brings into your athletic program and the visibility it gives your campus.  That definately makes a difference.
