Title: Let our success, on and off the court, determine our reputation
Post by: murambler on April 05, 2008, 10:49:30 AM
The notion seems to be tossed around that Crean and his personality kept Marquette in the headlines.  Did he keep Marquette or himself in the headlines?  Many say that the next coach needs to be polished and handle the media as well as Crean did; I dont' believe this is the case at all.
The reputation Marquette has with the media, whether good or bad, should not (have) be(en) determined by the personality or moxy of our coach.  Rather, it should (have) be(en) determined by the product/success that our university has on the court and in the classroom.

We do not need a sexy hire to keep ourselves in the media spotlight.  A coach that can consistently win, regardless of how media savvy he is, will keep Marquette in the national spotlight.
