From what I understand, Buzz is the first coach interviewed for the job. It also seems to this point he is the only one who has been formally interviewed. How does this translate into him being a shoe-in or front runner? We are only 2 days into the search process. Buzz is probably the easiest person to arrange for an interview as he is here on campus. Also, if he is a serious candidate, why put him off. However, these things don't say anything to me about him being the top candidate or a done deal. MU has worked hard to elevate its program over the last decade. I doubt they will put that all aside simply to make a quick hire of the first candidate to interview.
Feelers and inquiries are going out, confidential conversations are happening, formal interview are being arranged. Plus, the Final Four will bring a lot of candidates together for some back room discussions. If Buzz is the right man, great. But let's let the process run its course.
Also, MU may really want to retain Buzz as an assistant. If he wasn't interviewed, he may have felt slighted and explored other options.
