Realizing MU needs to pull a rabbit out of a hat when it comes to the next coach; I believe Jeff Van Gundy could be a catalyst for good things to come if MU could pull him down. Anybody have any thoughts on him as a possible candidate?
God no.
Personally, I don;t want anyone who has not had head coaching experience at the college level. Recruiting is hard work, and they need to be 100% committed to doing that work. That was probably Crean's strongest asset...he never took a day off.
While I'm sure he'd be great with the Xs and Os, could he recruit? I'm not that sold on this idea, although I am for thinking out of the box, that's for sure.
Fair enough
What about Scott Skiles? ;)

I don't know if I can handle another MSU guy...who was born in Indiana no less.
Skiles is a great option and considering he lost control of his talent in Chicago maybe he would view college as a welcome change.
Actually, I think he would be a good candidate.
Back when I was a youngster I watched him play in Albuquerque when MSU came to The Pit. That guy was fearless, even stared down the opposing bench AND coach every time he walked by. His teams definitely won't lack for toughness.
Number 1 on my short list:
Isiah Thomas

Yeah, no negative baggage associated with that guy. At least he's an experienced college coach... :o
Isiah is too busy offering to help TC at Indiana. I read that today and that guy is the kiss of death. I think Skiles would be awesome!

Right. We will just overlook his sexual harrassment problems with the Knicks. You have got to be kidding.
