Things are markedly different than coaching transitions of years past:
Marquette's Program is NCAA rules-flawless.
Team competes in a major power conference with extraordinary television exposure nationally.
Basketball rich "Tradition" school.
Proven ability to grant long term contract at market to above market compensation.
We no longer need to recruit developmental coaches on their way up...and eventually out...of the Program.
How about hiring the General - Bobby Knight?
Could you nominate a bigger A-hole?

Yes....Tom Crean!
I agree this is MU's defining moment. It's only half a decision. After we watch Crean's press conference this morning. He should be forgotten and all attention should turn to MU's board and Cottingham. It's all in their hands.

Is this the same board that tried to change the nickname to "Gold"? I'm scared! :o

PRN isn't a coach I don't think but he might get a nomination ;)
I would but he just quit.
Seriously: Miller from Xavier, Foley at USC?

he also happens to have the most wins in men's college basketball, plus 3 national championships, plus 11 conference championships, already in the College BB hall of fame, coach of the year and happens to know WTF he's talking about. i would love knight to come to MU. it just won't happen though. even if he wanted the job (which he wouldn't, by all indications he's done) i can't see MU hiring him, he's too controversial, which is one of the reasons i love that guy!
I would LOVE to have The General as our new coach. Honestly, he was the first person I thought of when Judas left. Knight knows his stuff and is 10x the coach and 100x the man Crean is.
