Crean got out coached by no coach during the Stanford game. Also, could someone please find a source that says Crean is a good basketball coach (that's it)---not a visionary, spokesperson, promoter, politician, etc. I haven't heard one person say he is a good coach. The bottom line is that he is an average basketball coach. There are at least 6 coaches better than him in the Big East alone!!! Lets move on baby!!!

Here is what Isiah, the Knicks mastermind, had to say about TC:
"He's got a brilliant basketball mind — definitely a good hire for Indiana — I was very vocal about Dan getting the job, but Tom is definitely qualified and will do an excellent job at Indiana," Thomas said before his game in Milwaukee on Tuesday. "Any way that I can help him, I definitely will."http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5iEjqKv5MhlXG6qDDrq36WgYTO9RQD8VPCIEO0
Thanks. That's exactly my point--qualified, good hire, brilliant basketball mind (I don't think so)--nothing about being a good coach!!!
Before you get ahead of yourself, if there are six better coaches in the Big East alone, then 3 of those coaches clearly underperformed, as Crean had MU as a perennial top 5 Big East program in the last 3 years. There were at least a couple teams (Syracuse/UConn) with clearly better talent that were outperformed by MU.
Crean is under-appreciated as a game coach. He may also be over-appreciated as a recruiter. Nevertheless, do not turn this into a "Crean sucked anyways" mantra. It is petty and ignorant.
Was the guy an all-american a-hole? It certainly is looking that way. But, he certainly was no bum taking this ex-midmajor program to the top of the elite basketball conference.
For what its worth, I appreciate his deeds at MU in rebuilding the program. I also wish him the worst at IU. Call me vindictive, but that a-hole is dead to me.
It's about results in the postseason. Bottom line, 1 win in the NCAAA tournament w/ out D Wade. Look, I respect where he has taken us over the past few years, but I believe he's being exposed by better, more intelligent coaches. All style, some substance.
Wardle likes him....Huggie calls him "Tommy Naismith"
Seriously, this pretty much sums him up, warts and all. A good hire and opportunity for TC who always was looking for more. I wish he handled his exit with much better class for the loyal university, players, recruits and parents. Couldn't he have at least resinged to his Father-in-Law? Very hamhanded and Rodriguez like. He better not touch one of our recruits.
Let's move on and and fill this puppy quickly. I go with stability, swiftness and a recruiter: Buzz, ala Dixon at Pitt versus starting afresh with three hangover years.
