Obviously he's young and has just one year of head coaching experience but what he did this year at Drake is nothing short of phenomenal...he took a team that had not been to the tournament since 1971 and they went 28-5. Barring the miracle by WKU, they probably advance to the Sweet 16. Keep in mind how awful Drake has traditionally been. They haven't finished in the top 8 of the conference at least as far back as ten years, I'm sure it's been longer than that. He's at least worth more than a passing glance. He's certainly better than any assistant out there and in terms of hot, young coaches it's tough to overlook what he did this year.
Without proven recruits it's hard to say he's not winning by default. By the same measure, the Illinois State coach would be a prime candidate considering how apparently awful Porter Moser was at the helm.

Keno Davis, no thanks....Darrin Horn, you went south too fast. Maybe Lowery.
