Title: Crean Leaving: Positives
Post by: 🏀 on April 01, 2008, 07:57:17 PM
1.) No more Diet Pepsi chugging.
2.) No more Tan Tommy references.
3.) Seemed liked every team hated TC, a fresh start is always nice.
4.) No more Riley Crean.
5.) No more attendance records.
6.) No more prerecorded video messages prior to home games.
7.) No more Mike Maddux on the sidelines.
8.) A decent game coach.

While minimal, just things I found annoying. Anyone care to add?

While Crean did do a great deal for Marquette in his time here (Al, Final Four, Big East, etc.) I have to admit there will be some good things that come with him leaving.

Mike Maddux?  The Brewers pitching coach?  When was he on the sidelines?

I don't know. But it's troubling if that's one of the top ten positives from our coach leaving. Seems kind of nit-picky to me. Here are a few to add:

11. Winning. I was getting tired of it.
12. Exposure. I mean just leave us alone. We're a tiny school in Milwaukee and all of those stories, cameras, etc. just got on my nerves. I mean, give us some privacy, puhlease.

Sorry for trying to look at some of the more annoying aspects of Crean. BTW, the sarcasm color is teal.

I can save $1500+ a yer by not buying MU tickets.

No more Jim Harbaugh on the sidelines!  The less we see of any (ex) Bears - the better!

13.  Not to worry--the next coach will be able to guarantee that we'll make the Big East tournament next season.
14.  It will be nice to be on a competitive footing with DePaul for a change.  And St. Johns.  And South Florida.
15.  When DJ and Jerel leave early, and O'Tule, Fulce, Williams and Taylor get their releases, the next coach will be able to start fresh and extend offers to both top 100 players still uncommitted.
16.  No more complaining that we we finished the year ranked 25th.
17.  Its a lot more exciting on the bubble than wondering about seed.
18.  Not only is the NIT more fun, but we also have a chance at the CBI.

Yeah, I'm sorry too. Bitterness is how I cope with disappointment sometimes.

He was actually at quite a few of our home games. I personally enjoyed admiring his moustache from afar. Quite manly.

No worries my friend, no worries.

Hopefully they finally replace Where the Streets Have no name as the intro song. Should've been done about 3-4 years ago.

Hell of a mustache. And judging from the performances of Sheets & Suppan this week, not a bad pitching coach  ;)

Pacing didn't make the list???  Should've been #1!  ESPN even had him on a "Pace Cam" down in the corner of the screen for like 5 minutes during one of our games this year.  The man NEVER stopped pacing!  And we were up by like 15 or 20!

SJS, I used to think you were an MU employee but now I think you're Joani.  Do you really have that little faith in MU to make a decent hire?  Are you not aware that we can pay top dollar for a coach? That we have a huge operating budget for hoops?  That we have a tremendous practice facility?  Yes many of these things are b/c of TC's efforts but they also insure that MU will be relevant beyond Tom Crean.  Your complete lack of faith in MU tells me that you are no fan of Marquette.  I find your lack of faith in my alma mater to be insulting.
