Title: Bill Cords = Class Act
Post by: TallTitan34 on December 09, 2006, 10:02:25 PM
About 30 students were outside the Bradley Center at 4:30 in the morning when Bill Cords pulls up with his dog.  He asked everyone if they needed anything to which everyone said no thanks.  Nonetheless, he made the trip to Dunkin Donuts and bought everyone hot chocolate and donuts.  Some of our friends went to DD as well to pick us up somethings and he paid for that as well.

THANK YOU BILL CORDS

Marquette will miss him after this season.  He could have sat back and become a lame duck AD, but he's still very active in promoting Marquette.  In KC, you could tell he was like a proud father (grandfather?) of the BBall team.

Thanks for telling that story.  Needed some positives from the game... Cords waking up that early to check on the students is definitely one.

I noticed in his speech his spent quite a bit of time talking about integrity.  I wonder how many AD's around the country would even mention the word out of fear a lightning bolt would strike them on the spot.

Yep. About six dozen donuts, hot chocolate, and coffee. He wouldn't even allow us to thank him. He just kept saying that it was great to see us out there that early (VERY EARLY). Great guy.

He also had a wonderful half time speech, ending it with MU in his heart and mind, will always be #1.
