2 issues I have:

1. DJ's play.
2. The plays called out of the 2 time outs in OT.

God Dammit, the refs didn't give Marquette a break....we really deserved that game

Although we lost by one at least we lost respectfully... I was fearing a blowout.  25 and 10 is a respectable record.

That's what you say in July - right now, this sucks.  No two ways about it

I would have rather gotten blown out...I would have felt better if that were the case

No way--this is hard, but no shame in going to OT and just barely losing.

A blowout gives you time to suck it up and accept it. Which makes it easier.
This however was much much much better. It jsut hurts much much much much worse.

Yes this hurts much worse.  I suppose it's better, but I wouldn't have cared if it were a blowout.

Would rather have been blown-out.

What was with the officiating in the 2nd half?  Did they decide to even things out for the technicals?

This one hurts because I hate the Lopez twins for being typical fresno trash.

I can't believe that I've got to watch that last play countless times over the next three weeks, and god knows how many times after that.  Ughhhh!!!!  Stanford has a stupid mascot and ugly cheerleaders.

DJ didn't play all that bad.  Wish he was able to hit some shots though.  The two shots off of timeouts, and McNeal's three with 4 seconds still on the clock at the end of regulation seemed like poor decisions.  But then again, so did the threes McNeal was draining in OT.  If only one of those shots after the timeout falls we win.  Johnson had 16 assists.  I don't know if paying extra attention to the big guys means never challenging the entry passes.  We forced a mere 8 turnovers.  It didn't help that Dwight Burke's 20% chance of getting a stop was the only interior defense.  Ooze and Fitz were bullied.  Chris O'tule, I hope you're practicing somewhere in Texas.  Then again, I don't want to think next year.

all in all tough one to swallow, not much to complain about besides the obvious(total lack of a big man) but I wish McNeal had gotten a better look in regulation, I'm not really mad at him given his unreal OT performance, but I wish he had taken it to the rim, maybe even draw a doul and go to the line, just didnt like settling for a three especially when there was almost 4 or 5 left on the clock

Amen,
He was getting to the rack at will and he pulls up with about 6 seconds left and lets go of a long 3...in all fairness he played lights out.

The good news is we get to watch Maquette for the rest of the tournament.

The bad news is it will be on one of those Pontiac "Game Changing Moments."  :-[

2 entire seasons since novak left, and we have yet to find anyone that can hit a clutch shot. mcneal played his butt off and deserves all the praise in the world, but at the end of regulation and when we were up 1 in OT, someone needs to be able to make a shot. its frustrating to watch us play close games like we have the past 2 years and know that we wont win, because we dont have that guy that can get it done. also lazar needs to learn how to inbound a ball, he did the same thing against georgetown twice. overall though we played extremely tough and have a lot to be proud of. it just sucks seeing the same thing happen to us in close ball game after close ball game.

Oh that was crushing.... Haven't felt this bad in a long long time, man that was rough.  Gonna take a long time to get over this one.

u mean like Novak against Alablama?

I kinda thought MU was clutch late against SHU, ND, and UK but maybe I am nuts.

Tough loss on a remarkable shot........no need to throw the baby out with the bath water.

to expound on my previous post a little, i am going to be drinking and crying for the remainder of the evening. man that sucked. just seems like when it comes down to it in these very close, emotional games, we just don't get the bounces going our way no matter how much heart our guys show. at least baseball season starts soon?

Georgetown was tough to swallow, but man alive, this one stings. Head spinning. Too many thoughts. Too many individual plays that could have changed the outcome. In the end we had no answer to their strength. Killed them everywhere else, but just had nothing for the Lopez girls. I call them girls because of their names, but also because they are big time bitches. Both in the good basketball player way, but also in the shut the hell up before I punch you in your throat way. I also think that they out toughed us for the first 5-7 minutes of the second half, and that is ultimately where teh game was lost. We had a chance to really turn the game in our favor, and didn't do it.

DJ didn't play all that bad.

You're right. I posted the original comment in the heat of frustration. DJ's 10 dimes were great. Wish he was more consistent shooting, and Crean's play calls out of the timeouts worked earlier in the game-- and Jerel had hit those pull-ups most of the night...
