Title: can they call a bleeping intentional foul?

What a disgrace

I give Gillespie credit. UK had nothing o lose by doing that, but complete BS job by the refs.

yea it was blatantly obvious, however I am glad Burke hit the first one, almost as a "shove it" attitude, too bad he didn't continue hitting them.

On the 2nd one, I thought Burke was gonna be "injured" and unable to shoot the free throws, ala Seton Hall.

how 'bout Wes with the ice water in his veins hitting every free throw down the stretch.  Awesome.

Have to hand it to Billy G. on the strategy if the refs are not going to call it.

Yeah..I was definitely yelling explicit language at that. Complete BS and I'm happy to have Jay Bilas call them out on it rather than Len "NY" Elmore trying to make excuses.

Another good "catch" by Bilas was when Crawford was driving - there's contact with Jerel - should've been a foul offensive or defensive - instead there's no call and Crawford continues to the bucket, scores and gets the call.   That was garbage.

Aside from the calls mentioned on this thread, I thought the officiating was pretty good today.  I also thought MU was a much better team than KU - so thank God we pulled that one out.

While Jerel is the stud, and Wes will get props for his ft's today, I thought DJ was key to the win.  When we extended our lead in the last 5 mins, DJ played a huge part in converting on those drives and then hitting the 3.

Great win!

I was so happy when they announced the referees and it was three guys I never heard of.

After the first off the ball foul on Burke, when he made one of two, I thought TC would remove Burke from the game, but he did not.  Why? The next off the ball foul was really a terrible call, on the other side of the court and all agree it should have been an intentional foul.  Burke was removed after he missed the front end of the one and one.  Great seeing them make free throws down the stretch.  Clutch.

Yeahh - those no intentional foul calls were foul.  Even the announcers were saying well that;s an intentiaonal foul.

Great crowd at The Schoolyard Tavern in Chicago - what fun

for clarification -- read the paragraph on "West Coast Rules" 3/4 down the UK Win reca whereby intentional fouls don't exist . . . bizarre, I know http://www.crackedsidewalks.com/

yeah, i was scratching my head when TC didn't immediately yank our Shaq too

what would have been great is if the second time they did it to Burke... he would have dropped clutching his ankle, screaming like he was in pain, to get our shooter out there.

Great to see we can play through bad officiating in a game of this magnitude.  This team has really matured.

I think the officiating was decent. They let a lot of things go on both ends, but it was fairly consistent and our guards were actually getting calls when they went to the basket.
....
....
.....

I'm sorry, I can barely believe the sentence I just wrote. I actually started to tear up a little.

Anyway, the no call on the Crawford/McNeal contact and the intentionals were B.S. but other than that, I don't think we can complain.

P.S.
Jay Bilas is the only good analyst in college bball. They should require Dukie V, Len "NYC" Elmore, and others to watch him call games.

When I said bad officiating I only meant the last two minutes - I agree with most of the others who thought the officiating was fair to both sides for the first 38 min.

I have to think that Crean left Burke in the game figuring there was no way that if Kentucky fouled Burke a second time that they wouldn't call an intentional foul.

Gottlieb has some up on espn about bad officiating and the pic was the MU bench.  It's an insider piece so I could not see if they actually discussed the 2 fouls.

Then there was his mistake ... counting on the officials to make the correct call.
