I won't claim to have any idea how these teams fared this year (#98-112 in the country are just outside my realm of caring) but I guess I would not have expected at the beginning of the year to see 6 BE teams completely shut out of the postseason.
Not sure we'll ever know how many Big East teams turned down offers to play. I'm guessing if Cincy is in it, Seton Hall was offered a spot as well. Barring some major changes, this operation seems like it'll last one year.
When people argue for a 128 team tournament picture these teams along with the NIT teams in the NCAA tournament. Not to mention an additonal 16 teams that didnt make these three tournaments.
I don't know about you but I feel that is one crappy tournament. Keep it at 65. Hell, contract it to 64. Dayton on Tuesday isn't the NCAA's no matter what anyone says.
EDIT: Also for those who argue in college football there are tons of bowl games and it gives the players a career accomplishment that's dumb too. If you are playing in the Real Chili/Ziggy's Bowl presented by Sweeny's Bookstore your team sucks and you shouldn't be in any bowl game.
I'd love to see the trophy for that game - I'm sure Ziggy could "cook up" something interesting to present to the champion.
One thing I found curious if nothing else about this CBI tournament is that the final is a best-of-3 series (see schedule - http://www.gazellegroup.com/cbi/cbi_bracket08.pdf (http://www.gazellegroup.com/cbi/cbi_bracket08.pdf). I'm still trying to find the benefit to shuffling two schools back and forth for a week.
I agree with you, Eye - this thing is doomed to a quick and forgettable death.
Wow ..that best of 3 series thing is so odd and cool at the same time.
26 wins, RPI of 70...no post season invite.....
Their coach was on the radio in Indy last night, and basically said that if it weren't for the kids he recruited, he would be actively looking for a job in a decent conference.

Wink, wink - if there are any AD's out there listening.
