hate to say it, but Pitt absolutely deserved to win this tournament. Yes, they got every call the last two nights, but they are a tough well-coached team that has a lot of heart. Georgetown, on the other hand, has been playing with fire all year, and it was almost nice to finally see them on the receiving end of the Tim Higgins screw. They realistically should have lost at least three more games and would have if the league had not continually showed its reverence for JTIII. They are like Wisconsin in that when they get in the tournament and get referees who won't bend over for them, they could be in trouble. Speaking of Bo, another nice job by the Big 10 zebras yesterday. 30 fouls on Michigan State on a neutral court; 37-19 edge in free throws in a two-poijnt game.
The UW/MSU game was actually called worse than the foul disparity. Truly an abomination. I have deliberately not watched much UW basketball this year, but after watching yesterday, I firmly believe that if they get an evenly called game, they cannot get out of the second round of the tournament. Watching Neitzel get knocked over on one end with no call and then watching Butch, on the very next possession, turn and lean into a Spartan big who was standing completely with his arms vertical, make the basket and get the foul, turned my stomach. Every time Butch or Krabbenhof moved, they were given a foul call. Pathetic.
