There is a sweet ad about Marquette in the ESPN the Mag's anniversary issue. Has anyone seen this? The background is a pic of the student section looking up from the floor to the rafters where the championship banners are showing. I wish I could scan it, but I don't have anything to do that. Anyways, here's the text.
In Downtown Milwaukee there's an area
that spans from 9th st on the east
to 20th st on the west
and from wells street on the north
to clybourn street on the south
In this stretch of 90 acres lies a nation,
a nation of 11,000 strong
They have their own flag.
Their own fight song.
They wear blue and gold.
They are called, the Golden Eagles.
This is what you should know
about this 127-year-old nation.
You mess with one,
you mess with them all.
Don't let the 90 acres fool you.
They span a far greater area than that.
Pride knows no boundaries.
Passion has no limits.
You'll know when you're in trouble.
You'll know when you have messed up.
Because you'll hear a chant of three words.
WE ARE MARQUETTE.
And when you hear that.
Pray.
Or walk across the street to the Gesu.
Nice stuff!
Waiting for the PRN response...
That sounds really sweet. Wish that I could see the ad.

i got chills just reading it. now im gonna have to go buy the mag
goosebumps...any way someone could scan this ad in or something so that the rest of us could see?

What, no love for Kilby or State?
I get ESPN the magazine, and I just looked at the ad. VERY cool! We are going to cut it out and frame it and give it to my grandfather. In the ad you can see the banners from the 1952, 70', and 77' teams as well as the student section in the Bradley Center. My grandpa played on the 52' team so he will find this very cool. I encourage anyone who doesn't get the magazine to go out and buy it. This is a very cool ad and it makes you proud to be a Marquette fan! WE ARE MARQUETTE!

But is he in here? http://wiki.muscoop.com/doku.php/men_s_basketball/alphabetical_player_list
If not, do your grandchild's duty and ADD HIM! :D
I just checked at the store for it but the old issue is out still with a March 10 date. I'd assume this means the new issue hits shelves March 17th a.k.a. Monday.
Just scanned the ad. If anyone can instruct me on how to post a pic here, I'll do so.

In post reply, click on "Additional Options" and then upload the file extension. It should then just show up as an attachment to your post.
Here's the ad.
I'm disappointed they didn't reference our true nickname, Warriors, in any way.
Sorry 4ever, just "Warriors" on the 2 banners.
Yikes, I wish the student section was a little more full, and the main banner you could see was the 1977, and 2003 rather than the other 2 and 1977.
But you know what they say, never look a gift horse in the mouth. Great exposure for MU, Stoked with the advertisment!
The other day in one of my classes we had a guest speaker on the topic of Native American Issues. She got on the topic of mascots and nicknames for schools, I was wearing my Marquette sweatshirt and was in the front row, however she didn't mention our nickname change. I was trying to find a way to explain a school's point of view, of it not being a mockery, but a tradition and showing respect, but I just kept my mouth shut. Being so young and not really in the Warrior era, didn't have much ammunition.

I got the magazine yesterday and the student section is full in the photo, its just hard to see in the .jpeg because there are a bunch of people wearing blue in the upper deck.

Good. I plan on picking one up Monday.
Nevermind my previous gripes about the ad. Thanks to MUbasketball over at the scout board for putting this one up.

Amazing. I must get one or two tomorrow.
127 y.o. nation. Wow.
You must get some kind of special award for being over 100+ years!
Couldn't they find a picture with the upper deck full?
I will say again, the upper deck is full in the photo, there are just a bunch of people wearing blue. If it is not clearly evident from the second photo posted, then why would there be a bunch of gold shirts way at the top if there were a ton of open seats in front of them?
Which issue is this ad in? March 17th or 24th? Thanks
17th. LeBron is on the cover. Or Ichiro. It has 2 covers. Then other covers beneath those covers.
I got a clean copy of the ad from a buddy who works for Converse. Can this be converted into a jpg file?
Here ya go.
Sweet - thanks for the original. This one might need to be framed :)
also, if you go to www.converse.com, the opening page has a big WE ARE MARQUETTE. talk about some great publicity. i am liking the switch the converse more and more.
p.s. i know this is crossing threads, but i couldn't be prouder of the way this years team played. they left it all out on the court on Saturday and i respect them for it.
Now let's do converse/wade proud and next year win the Big East and Final Four or bust....

The converse website is still all Marquette even thought we lost!
